Lytle Primary Monthly Newsletter April 2023

April Greetings!!

Hello parents and guardians, happy April, I hope this message finds you doing well.

As we move into April I would like to take a moment to focus on appropriate screen time for our Littlest Pirates and our future Pirates.

According to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry a child under 18 months should not have any screen time. 18-24 months video calls to family ONLY. 2-5 years old, 1 hour of QUALITY screen time a day, preferably under adult supervision. Over 5 years ensure screen time does NOT interfere with the child's normal activities and doesn't substitute play like painting, running or baking. Effects of too much screen time: Under 24 months- Delayed development milestones, especially speech and language. Poorer social understanding. Over 24 months- obesity, myopia (near-sightedness), Poor sleep habits, short attention span, poor interpersonal relationships, higher risk of developing addictions later in life.

Please make sure your child comes to school daily and on time. Our school opens at 7:15 am where breakfast is served through 7:40 am. Our three drop off locations receive students until 7:45 am when the bell rings, and then all students must be walked to the front door after 7:45 am, and the tardy bell rings at 7:50 am. Please do your best to get your child to school on time as our instructional day begins promptly at 7:45 am with Good Things and Daily announcements.

Thank you for taking the time to read our monthly newsletter and for being such a wonderful partner in your child's education. Please always remember, if you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact the front office at 830-709-5140.

Thank you,

Mrs. Galindo

Capturing Kids Hearts!!

What is perseverance? Perseverance is the willingness and ability to keep going when things are tough. People who persevere show steadfastness and give the extra effort needed to do something despite how hard it is or how long it takes to reach the goal.
