2nd Grade @ ROE
#AdventureAwaits
Week of : September 23-27
Welcome
We are so excited for all of our new friends that have joined us in 2nd grade! This year is going to be filled with lots of fun adventures and laughter. We invite you to join us on our adventure of positive energy! Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
Students in 2nd grade practiced voting by voting for their favorite Friday activity!
Look at some of the fun we had last week!
2nd Grade Adventures
In order to promote high attendance, we will be spelling out the word ATTENDANCE. Each day that our class has 100% attendance a letter will be added. When the whole word is spelled out, we will celebrate. We will also have a school wide prize for the grade level with the highest attendance. Please help us reach our goal in 2nd grade!
Academics
ELAR: This week we will interact with stories in meaningful ways such as illustrating or writing.
Math: This week students will observe and determine the value of coins.
Science: We will observe changes and record the findings.
Social Studies: Students will discuss the importance of rules and how they keep us safe.
Family Focus
This year we are taking more of a family focused approach to homework. We believe that spending quality family time is vital in the success of your student. We will provide family friendly, engaging homework activities and assignments. We would love if you would send us pictures of these activities and share them with us.
This weeks Family focus: Students will be practicing counting coins this week. Counting coins is easy to do at home or out running errands. Have students count the change in their piggy-banks or coins found in the dryer. When you are at the store, have your child count the coins given back as change. Recognizing all coins (heads and tails) and counting coins is an important skill.
