A Few Words On...
As the leader of St. Stanislaus Kostka Academy, I would just like to share a few words and thoughts on several topics and happenings in our school community.
Catholic Schools Week Begins
Catholic Schools Week is the time of year where we get to celebrate everything that makes our school a great place to be for students, teachers, and families. We have plenty of fun activities planned for our students in addition to our "dress-down" days throughout the week. Through these events, we will focus on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to our Church, our communities and our nation. Just as a reminder, I will also host "Coffee with the Principal" on Tuesday morning to offer an opportunity for parents to chat about all that is happening at St. Stan's Academy. For a full list of all the week's activities, please see the information further down in the Principal's Pad.
To close out Catholic Schools Week, we will have a Family Mass next Sunday, February 5 at 10am. Immediately after Mass, we will have a brief Open House from 11am to Noon. I would appreciate it greatly if you invite your friends, family, and co-workers to come and visit our wonderful school. The best advertising we can have is through "word of mouth" so anything you can do to help us get more interest makes all the difference.
Scholastic Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair returns this week to help us celebrate Catholic Schools Week! Students will be visiting the fair with Mrs. Walsh to make a "wish list" of items. Parents can either create an "e-wallet" or send a check with their child in order to purchase books. The Book Fair will be open to parents Tuesday-Friday after school until 3:30pm in the Library. The fair will also be open on Sunday, February 5 during our Open House for any last minute purchases.
World's Finest Chocolate Fundraiser
At the end of Catholic Schools Week on Friday, February 3, we will kick-off our World's Finest Chocolate sale and fundraiser. As a part of this fundraiser, students will be able to earn prizes and rewards based on the amount of chocolate they sell. All funds will go towards supporting our educational programming and the purchase of classroom materials for teachers. We are requiring that each family sell at least 1 box of chocolate bars as a part of your required fundraising efforts for the school. All members of our school appreciate your efforts to go above and beyond to support our mission at St. Stan's Academy.
Gentle Reminders
Illnesses Around School
Many of our students have recently suffered from a "stomach bug" which has spread through several of our classrooms over the past week. We have noticed that students do not often exhibit a fever, but they do have intestinal cramping which has led to vomiting. I ask that if your child is complaining of an upset stomach prior to arriving to school, you consider keeping them home for the day. Most students have told us that they felt discomfort before arriving at school and that their symptoms quickly got worse once on campus. Taking a few extra precautions will help to protect other students and teachers with minimal disruption to the learning process.
A Message from Fr. Anthony
In lieu of the beginning of Catholic Schools Week our Parish Pastor, Father Anthony, wanted to share a letter with the parents and guardians of our students at St. Stan's Academy. Please take a few moments to click on this link and read his message to our school community. We are thankful for Fr. Anthony's constant support of our mission and his guidance of our students and faculty.
First Reconciliation & First Communion Preparation
The Scholastic Book Fair Returns!
The Scholastic Book Fair will be set-up in our Library from Monday, January 30 through Sunday, February 5. Students will be able to view and purchase items throughout the week. Parents are welcome to visit the fair Tuesday-Friday after school hours until 3:30pm.
Creating an e-Wallet
Please watch the video below for directions on how to set-up a virtual e-Wallet to make purchasing books and other materials simple and fast.
World's Finest Chocolate Fundraiser
Our third fundraiser of the year will begin on Friday, February 3. At that time, families will pick-up boxes of chocolate bars to sell to friends, family, and neighbors. Each family is expected to sell at least 1 box to help raise money to support our academic programming at St. Stan's Academy.
As a point of clarification, families are not directly purchasing the box of chocolate. Each family will receive a box and are expected to sell its contents (worth $60). If a family is only able to sell $40 worth of the chocolate to friends, co-workers, etc. They will be expected to purchase the remainder of the box ($20) to fulfill their commitment. Some families may have ordered more than one box to sell. If you cannot sell all boxes, please return any unopened boxes to the school.
