April 2014 Wellness Topic: Hear today? Gone Tomorrow?
How Loud is Too Loud?
Loud noise damages your hearing, it can harm the sensitive hair cells in the inner ear that send signals to the brain and allow us to hear. If you have to shout to be heard by a person near you, this is a warning sign that you're in an atmosphere that is too noisy. To preserve your hearing, wear earplugs or other ear protection when you need to be around noise that could cause permanent damage.
