Dear Parents / Carers,
What a busy week we have had this week!
The big event of the week was the Young Voices concert and as always our children did us proud! They have practiced and rehearsed for weeks to learn the songs and dance moves and then represented our school very well at the event at Sheffield Arena. Well done to all involved and thank you to the staff who helped to support this event.
On Tuesday we had a visit from Phunky Foods who are working with our Year 5 Shakespeare Class to learn more about healthy eating habits. Our Phunky Foods Ambassadors are now planning some school surveys and an assembly to share their work with the other pupils in school.
On Wednesday, we had the police in school to deliver a talk to Key Stage 2 on Internet Safety. We were shocked to see how many of our children were accessing a variety of apps not recommended for their age group but also how many admitted to talking to strangers online through gaming and social media apps. This was backed up by the 'Growing Up in North Yorkshire' Survey completed last year that showed that 36% of our older pupils regularly talk to strangers online. Please talk to your children about this and ensure that you have full parental and privacy settings turned on all devices.
Year 6 treated us to a wonderful assembly based on their learning about the heart and circulatory system. It was great to see how much they had learned and we all enjoyed their song. Well done Year 6! Thank you to the parents who came to support the children.
The Friends of Kirk Fenton had a great response to the Bags2School collection so thank you to everyone that brought a bag back into school today.
Finally, a reminder that we finish for half term next week on Thursday 9th February. School will be closed for pupils on Friday 10th as it is a teacher training day. We return to school for 8:45am on Monday 20th February.
Have a lovely weekend,
Karen Williams

Well done to everyone who has been practising their maths at home on Numbots and TT Rockstars. We can see lots of children making a real effort with this which is great. Make sure you are going on and playing the games throughout the week, it is part of our homework and helps us to access the maths work in class.
Our Numbots superstars this week are Raffi, Alice H, Howie G, Seb E, Austin B, Charlotte C and Theo M. Well done!
Our Rockstars of the Week are Scarlett B, Brad, Will G, Aiobhe, Evie D and Bea. Congratulations.
Message from Head Pupils
This week has been a busy but exciting week. Firstly we have had young voices in Sheffield arena where we sung all the songs we have been working on for the past few weeks. Everybody had a lot of fun and we are thrilled that everybody got back safe and sound. Moving on we have also had a marvellous assembly where year six (Angelou) shared their brilliant learning on the heart and the circulatory system. Over all we have had a fabulous week and hope for better next week. Look after yourself and stay healthy!

Thank you to everyone who brought in bags this morning - we had a fantastic amount to give to Bags2School, and they have confirmed we will received £160. So a huge thank you. We'll be doing another collection towards the summer, so we'll keep you updated.
We have two upcoming events to let you know about:
- We'll be running the Readathon again this year, after the great success of last year and sheets will be coming home in book bags in the next few weeks.
- A date to hold for the diary, Friday 24th March, our first event just for parents will be a Curry & Quiz night. So get the childcare lined up, and work out which of your friends knows most about a whole range of subjects! Tickets will be on sale in the next couple of weeks.
As ever, you can always set up EasyFundraising as an easy, free, way to help raise funds for the school whilst you shop.
