News from the Classroom- Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers in our class! You are an inspiration and a gift. Thank you for sharing your children with me.

I am so proud of the work that your children did on their shelter projects. They turned out better then I could have anticipated! The other classes visited us on Monday to view the projects, and they all commented that they were very special, and very well done. I absolutely loved them! If you want to enter your child's project in the Sonoma County Fair, it might be a good opportunity for your child to display their work.

This past week we finally completed our testing. The test took much longer then I had anticipated, however, we were still able to get to the introduction and subject of weight on Thursday. On Friday the students were asked to create a scale using any materials they could find in the classroom. It was fun to see how creative the children could be, as they weighed and measured, using their own scale.

On Friday I had the students move their desks around, using a method of pulling sticks labeled with their names. I have never done the desk rotation in this way, so I am curious to see how it works out.

This coming week we will work on weight measurement, in regards to "greater than" and "less than". We will also be reviewing all the math that we have learned in this 3rd grade year.

3rd Grade Class Meeting (LAST ONE!)

Wednesday, May 11th, 7-9pm

200 South Main Street

Sebastopol, CA

The time is 7-9 pm (not 6:30-8:30 pm, as stated the last newsletter)
The first hour we will go over what the students have learned in 3rd grade, and what they will be learning in 4th grade. We will also cover details on our last two field trips.
I will then ask that only those going to Slide Ranch remain for further discussion.
