Superintendent's Message
October 14, 2022
Clever Families,
It's hard to believe we're nearing the end of our first quarter. What an exciting September it has been, with so many great things happening in every building!
Students have settled into their routines, and teachers are focused on providing every student with opportunities for success. As I visit classrooms and tour buildings, I am impressed by the levels of deep learning and engagement. Also, I continue to be in awe of our amazing community-great people who are invested in and care about what is best for our kids! Your dedication and support are appreciated and recognized at every level. Thank you for your continued partnership!
As we strengthen our home-school partnership, we encourage you to become actively engaged in the school community. Attending school activities is a great way to build relationships and support our students. There are many exciting events happening in the district this fall. All events are posted on our calendar (www.cleverbluejays.org/events) and in individual building communications to families. We also have some highlights listed in the newsletter below.
Speaking of highlights, congratulations to our Clever Girls Golf Team for taking home the district championship! They will be competing at the state competition next week. Good luck, ladies!
On September 29, surveys were sent to staff, parents, and students. Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate. Summary data for each of the surveys is linked in the newsletter below. Data received from this survey combined with data received in the survey conducted in the spring will be used as we continue work on the district's CSIP and our plans for the future.
The threat of inclement weather is right around the corner. School districts are allowed to implement virtual learning plans in place of up to four missed days. Our administrators are putting the final touches on our AMI plans, and we will be sharing more information on what that will look like this year soon. In the event we need to cancel in person classes, notifications will go out by email, phone message, Facebook, the district website, and local news stations. Please make sure your contact information is up to date in order to ensure you get these weather related messages as well as other emergency messages.
Sincerely,
Dr. Breeden
Superintendent
Clever R-V School District
Our October Teacher Proud Tuesday recipients are Molly Strickland (High School), Jessica Flagg (6-8), Lori Vestal (3-5), and Kayla Sharp (PK-2). Our building principals, assistant principals, superintendent and director of operations presented each teacher with a “Trophy of Awesomeness”.
Congratulations to our October recipients!
Our Clever Parents as Teachers and Preschool programs are committed to working with our earliest of learners and their families. Our PAT matches parents and caregivers with trained professionals who make regular personal home visits during a child’s earliest years. Our Preschool continues to build on that early learning to give our students every opportunity to succeed. The collaborative efforts of our team and our families are vital to the success of students, and the effects are felt far beyond the preschool years.
Each year students are tested for kindergarten readiness. Data collected from a Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education pilot kindergarten ready assessment showed 58% of the students tested were kindergarten ready. Numbers for the most recent assessment in the Clever School District shows that 80% of our students entering kindergarten were kindergarten ready! We think our team and our families are doing something very right!
Kindergarten readiness not only helps student get off on the right foot, but is a vital element to success in later academic years. If you have students in the 0-5 age group and you haven’t enrolled in our PAT program, please take a moment to reach out to Regina Gohr, Program Supervisor at gohrr@cleverbluejays.org.
'ON TO STATE' for the Clever Girls Golf Team. For the first time in program history, the Lady Jay Golfers advanced to the State Tournament as a team by winning the Class 1 District 1 Championship at Island Green Golf Course.. Madelynn Kime was the District Champion and Josette McLaughlin was 2nd. Joining them as qualifiers are Avery Whitlinger, Sophia Fields and Alternate Laurel Wilson. The State Golf Tournament will be played Monday & Tuesday Oct. 17 & 18 at the Country Club of Missouri in Columbia. Congratulations!
Unfortunately, with fall comes cold and flu season. If your child is ill, we invite you to take advantage of our virtual clinic on our Clever campuses. You can find more information about our Virtual Clinics here.
