Happy New Year!
What is your New Year's Intention?
I keep track of my annual lists and check back against them at the end of the year. I didn't accomplish all of them but one that I did was to dedicate myself more fully to my work with Beautycounter. To this point last year, I found myself so busy I couldn't give it the time it deserved. And, truth be told, as a stay at home mom for 4 years I was nervous about acknowledging my intention to really make this a part of my life. But the company spoke to me. I connected with the mission. I believed in educating my friends and family, and I believed in a safer lifestyle for my family. It was a scary leap to take, but I did it and I accomplished more than I could have hoped for. Thank you to all of you - teammates, clients, friends - who took the leap with me and trusted me. Your support has meant everything to me.
At the start of 2016, I have started making that annual list again and one thing that will be on there for me will be to transition the rest of our house to "safer" living. Along with doing more yoga and getting back onto a trapeze again. (Long story short, I did a trapeze class with a girlfriend in Chicago a couple years back and it was the most thrilling experience. I think Scott was worried I was going to run off and join the circus…)
What is your New Year's Intention? If I could help add one thing to that list you might be starting, how about investing in the safety of your household and your family. Switch to safer products. Feel like it's too overwhelming? It doesn't have to be all at once! Just start bit by bit and replace those products you run out of with better options. Need suggestions, please email me. I would be happy to guide you. To start, here a couple of my favorite products I have switched too. I would love hear some of yours too! I promise, switching to safer products will be one of the best decisions you make this year.
Have you heard of Norwex? If not, look up a consultant in your area and get the skinny. Clean your house WITHOUT any chemicals!
My kids exclusively used Camelbaks for the past couple years, but recently I started feeling uncomfortable about the plastic. Even though it is BPA free, I just didn't feel like it was something I felt comfortable having my kids drinking out of all day everyday. So I switched to the Thermos Funtainer. All Stainless steel and it can be washed in the dishwasher. Win Win in my book.
Schmidt's Natural Deoderant
People are always asking me what safe deodorant I use. And until Beautycounter comes out with a deodorant, I will use Schmidt's. Their deodorants are free of aluminum, propylene glycol, parabens & phthalates. They are certified Vegan & Cruelty-free and as a bonus are Gluten-free too. Oh, and did I mention they work? :) It does take a little time for your body to adjust, so stick (no pun intended) it out and you will be so happy. My favorite scent is Ylang-Ylang and Calendula and the Lavender Sage.
