Simmons Elementary School
June 3, 2021
The last day of school is Thursday, June 17th. Elementary school dismissal is at 11:30 a.m. on that day.
Field Day - Friday, June 4th
Simmons Elementary School Field Day is planned for tomorrow. We have our fingers crossed that the weather forecast will hold! If the forecast changes overnight, we will notify you by 7:30 a.m. via email and text messages if we need to postpone. Again, we appreciate your flexibility and patience as we try to work around the shifting weather. We would like to get it in tomorrow, if possible, to avoid the expected high temperatures next week.
We will be following a modified format this year. Our PE teachers, Mr. Emig and Mr. Paci, have designed a variety of fun activities for the children, following our health and safety guidelines. Each grade will participate during their special area class time and compete against their grade level classmates. Homeroom teachers will send home information about their classes’ team colors this week.
Field Day Schedule
9:30 – 10:10 a.m. Grade 3
10:15 – 10:55 a.m. Grade 4
11 a.m. – 11:40 a.m. Grade 5
12:30 – 1:10 p.m. Grade 2
1:45 – 2:25 p.m. Kindergarten and Grade 1
Each fifth grade homeroom will serve as team leaders for a younger grade level, allowing our fifth graders the opportunity to take the traditional field day leadership role.
- Please apply sunscreen at home.
- Children can wear hats for Field Day activities.
- Students should NOT come to school with hair spray or dye, face/body paint or eye black.

There will be a designated spectator area for each field day grade level session, clearly marked along one side of the field behind the school. All vehicles need to be parked in legal spaces in the school parking lot or along Babylon Road.

Kindergarten 2021-22 Screening
We are planning a brief, in-person screening the week of June 7 for our entering kindergarten students. The screening will focus on early literacy and math skills. The screening will last about 15 minutes and will be given to your child individually by one of our literacy specialists. We will follow the Covid-19 health guidelines, including requiring masks and maintaining social distancing. This screening is not required, but we do encourage you to bring your child for a screening if your circumstances allow.
You can sign up for a convenient screening time by clicking on this sign-up link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050C49AFA62BA0F49-simmons1
You can also reach that sign-up by clicking from our school’s webpage: https://www.hatboro-horsham.org/Domain/11
If your child receives special education services through early intervention and you have already had your child evaluated by the school district, you do not need to have them complete the screening, as the evaluation provides us with even more in-depth information.
If your child attends pre-K at Simmons, we can do the screening during the preschool day if you call Mrs. Doan at 215-420-5702.
