"Kids Can Do Anything!"

...that is our favorite line from this year's musical, 42nd Street. We believe this all the time, and nothing was more true as our students graced the stage and filled the house with the sounds of 42nd Street! Big congratulations to the students, staff, and parents who played a role either on stage, in the pit, or behind the scenes. What an awesome show! As a special guest, Mrs. Dolan attended the show this year and could not believe how "professional" our students were. Her quote was: "Look at these kids--they're amazing, and they are in middle school! They can certainly do a lot more than play basketball!" We commend everyone for your hard work and dedication. But most importantly, we commend you for truly coming together. Musicals don't have that kind of magic unless everyone works together and sticks together. Bravo, Tamanend Players, Pit Band, Street Crew and Directors! BRAVO!

Special thanks to Miss Roth for the great photos!

She's On A Roll...

Ninth grader Sophia S. has been on quite a roll... In the Bucks County Science Research Competition held at Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, Sophia was awarded first place in Botany for her study on "Rhizobacteria in Osmotic Seeds." Additionally, Sophia recently submitted a C-SPAN student created video on Fracking and received Honorable Mention. C-SPAN will be coming to Tamanend later this year to honor Sophia and allow her classmates to tour the C-SPAN mobile news center. Congratulations and thank you, Sophia!

You can see Sophia's C-SPAN video by clicking the link below.

Sharing Talent

Anjika P. presented Tamanend Middle School with a framed scratch-work of a Gold Tiger which is presently being shared with the whole school in our Main Office Lobby display case. Anjika wanted to give something back to Tamanend that will grace our school long after she finishes her last year here. Anjika also designed the 42nd Street t-shirts that the cast, crew, and Tamanend Players supporters are so proudly wearing these days. Anjika, thank you for your generosity in sharing your many talents with us!

Good Time to Refresh

Now is a good time to take stock of school supplies and see if any need to be refreshed. Here is a link to team/grade supply lists provided back in summer.

Tamanend Middle School PSSA & Keystone Testing Dates

7th Grade:

  • English/Language Arts (ELA): April 14-17
  • Math: April 21-23

8th Grade:

  • English/Language Arts (ELA): April 14-17
  • Math: April 21-23
  • Science Tests - April 28-29

Keystone in Algebra:

  • May 13-14

The best way to prepare for test days (and all school days) is for students to get a good night's sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and bring a bottle of water and a snack to school. Students should bring two #2 pencils for all testing days. Students should bring a calculator for the math tests. Students should NOT bring their phone or any other personal electronic devices to school on testing days.

Save the Date: Freshman Dance Planning Meeting

Planning is about to start for the Freshman Dance. Parents from all grade levels are invited to attend. Tamanend's Freshman Dance is a wonderful celebration for the 9th grade class. We need help planning, decorating, providing food, and/or cleaning up the following day. Any and all help is appreciated. We will be having a planning meeting on Thursday, March 19, at 7 pm in the Tamanend Cafeteria. Hope to see you there!

"If we look at each other and each situation through the lens of the Tiger's Eye, we will remember that we are Tamanend Together."
