Message from the Principal

Hello Prairie Friends & Families,

We have had so much fun celebrating Read Across America this week! We watched videos of different staff members reading books, participated in activities based on the books, and welcomed virtual guest readers to our Prairie Community. We had a nurse and firefighters read to us this week! Next week we will read with an engineer, our Director of Educator Development, and our Superintendent! We have also done daily book raffles! All families are welcome to take a family selfie with your favorite books on your learner's iPad. We will print these selfies and add them to our bulletin board. Take a look at some of the pictures from Read Across America below!

Last week Thursday the Speak Up, Speak Out letter was shared with K-5 families across our school district. All students viewed a video from our school counselor, Mrs. Edwards, to review the importance of reporting things that are unsafe to a trusted adult and to learn about the SUSO app. Here are some additional talking points if you are interested in discussing the purpose of the app further and emphasizing the importance of telling a trusted adult to report something that is unsafe.

We are Team Prairie!

We are stronger together!

Carly Solberg

GOT SNEAKERS FUNDRAISER: Thank you to all of those who have already donated shoes to our fundraiser. As spring cleaning is starting up remember this is an ongoing fundraiser so keep searching for shoes! Did you know that your gently worn sneakers could help Prairie PTA? Prairie PTA is participating in a fundraiser where you donate your shoes. All we need is your support and your gently worn, used ,or new sneakers! Here’s how you can help. Start in your and your family’s closets and gather as many pairs of sneakers that you no longer want; maybe you’ve out-grown them, they’re out of style, or out of season. If you and your household have 20 pairs, great! If not, don’t worry. You can ask your neighbors, friends, co-workers, and anyone in your social networks to help out. Every pair counts! The sneakers that we all collect will help raise money to support Prairie PTA AND will help our environment by keeping sneakers out of landfills.

All you have to do is send your children to school with your sneakers or drop them off at school. Please no boots or dress shoes or sandals. Every pair that is donated earns up to $7 per pair.

Early Pick Up for Students

If you need to pick up your student early for any reason or for appointments during the day, please come in to the lobby and buzz the office. We will call your child down at that point and sign them out from the office. It is helpful to email the teacher and Mrs. Anderson of expected times so we can try to have them ready to leave.

Dropping off Supplies

We have a new procedure in place if you need to drop off student materials during the day (lunch, homework, jackets, iPads, etc). The outside door to the lobby of the school is open. There are "drop off tickets" on the table inside the door. Please complete your child's name, grade/teacher, and the item being delivered with any special instructions. We will deliver it to the classroom just as soon as we can. Thank you for your support.

All school fees have been assigned in your Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Fees can be paid by credit card through this portal or by cash/check in the Prairie office. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Anderson at
