Westside Dominant In Reading Achievement
Recent testing results indicate reading levels in Westside Community Schools elementary buildings are among the highest we have ever seen!
DISTRICTWIDE:
- 82% of all Kindergarten - 1st grade students are reading proficient, an increase from 68% in Fall 2019
- 76% of all elementary students are on pace to be at or above typical growth in reading
BUILDING HIGHLIGHTS:
- OAKDALE ELEMENTARY wins the 2020 Lighthouse Literacy Award, showing the highest performance in the district in multiple areas
- PRAIRIE LANE ELEMENTARY showing 100% student proficiency in early reading composite scores
- WESTGATE ELEMENTARY showing 100% achievement for Kindergarten students in letter sounds, an increase from 42% in Fall 2019
Just five years ago, some of these numbers were deemed unattainable. Now they are reality thanks to the vision, hard work, and dedication from Westside administrators and teachers!
