Mariner Memo
March 8, 2019
It was another fun-filled week at Marine City Middle School as we kicked off March is Reading month with some fun activities. Each day this month we are starting our day with a quote from Dr. Seuss, something bound to jog fond memories. This past Tuesday we had our first Trivia Tuesday of the month, Dr. Seuss themed, with a fun Kahoot during the lunches. Friday featured a spirit day, wearing a shirt of a place you'll go. Throughout the month we have activities planned on Tuesdays and Fridays all around the theme of reading. Check the daily announcements for reminders about upcoming events.
Tuesday night the MCMS Bands had their turn to show their parents and the community what they learned in clinics last week with an evening performance at the PAC. The concert featured a couple of numbers from each grade as well as a wonderful entry into the ensembles by saxophonists Bailey Haslem, Azalea Taube, and Colin Quesnelle. See the videos below.
Monday and Tuesday next week will be big days for our vocal music students as they head to Dakota High School for the Festivals. Good luck to Mr. Van Dyke and our choir students!
Think warm thoughts and have a great weekend,
-Mr. Ming
The first 3 weeks in March the Marine City Middle School Student Council will be starting the Pennies for Pasta fundraiser for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society! The class that collects the most money will get an Olive Garden party, and the second place class will get a pizza party! The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has also started a new incentive this year and will be giving away cool prizes for individuals who collect certain amounts! Please consider donating for this great cause! Use the link above to make a donation.

Positivity Project this Week
I was approached today by an 8th grader who was moved to tears by the inspirational video she watched in P2 for the #OtherPeopleMatter mindset of @PosProject . She explained in vivid detail about how the story opened her eyes and made her think. #mcmsmoments
We celebrated 3 students who were Caught with Character this week. Congratulations to Jacob Babel-Kade, Cooper Letson, and Ryan Sicken. Well done guys and keep up the outstanding character development. Our video this week features our last three grand prize winners all coming together for a single sitting. Enjoy hearing from Mackenzee Bellis, Avery Brohl, and Jacob Babel-Kade.
Next week we will transition to Love of Learning, one of my personal favorites!
