Wednesday's 3:15-4:00 in room 401 with Miss Brockman.
This is a time when students may come in and begin their homework, work on reassessment, or just receive additional help with math. All middle school students are welcome to come to either or both office hours.
Expectations:
- Work on math material first.
- Keep voices down so that everyone can focus on their own material.
- If a student wants or needs a snack, it must be nut free.
Middle School Math Reassessment Policy
6th Grade Math
This week I hardly saw the 6th grade. On Monday students took a quiz on all operations with decimals. Tuesday there was no math class due to a field trip and on Wednesday students took the math portion of the MAP test. Thursday we talked about opposites, absolute value and ordering/comparing positive and negative numbers. Next week will be all about operations with integers (positive and negative whole numbers). This is a difficult topic for many students, so Tuesday and Wednesday we will focus on addition and subtraction. Thursday students will learn about multiplying and dividing. On Friday students will complete an activity using iPads to show what they have learned.
8th Grade Math
This week we focused on reviewing material from chapter 8 on Monday. Students worked collaboratively to identify correct answers to questions from the 8.1-8.5 quiz and fix mistakes to incorrect answers. On Tuesday and Wednesday we had assorted review activities including review handouts, I have… who has…, and bingo. The week concluded with a test on 8.1-8.5, 3.8, 11.1-11.2. Next week we will begin our second unit (descriptive statistics). Tuesday nights homework must be completed on google sheets and shared with me.
*****Please make sure that you do not order hot lunch for your 8th grade students on November 6th. They will be on a field trip (for which you should have received a letter yesterday).
