Halloween Happenings
In keeping with the holiday tradition, Oster had a virtual Halloween Parade Friday morning for the students to view. For those of you who missed out on the fun, I have included the video below. Also included is a video created by our garden parents highlighting all of our Creepy Crawlers found in Oster's garden. In next week's newsletter, I will share all the creative pumpkins that were were submitted for my principal's challenge.
Reopening Plan
I have heard from about 80% of our Oster community. It is very important I hear from every parent with their intent to return. If you have yet to do so please complete this survey linked below(one for each child).
Although there are still many, many details to be determined, this preliminary data from the survey will provide essential information needed to help plan everything from outdoor learning spaces to playground schedules.
A copy of USD's Reopening Plan is attached which may be helpful in answering some of your questions with regards to in-person learning. Hybrid schedules, cohort options, and more will be shared in the coming weeks once we sort through our data.
Also, please remember to mark your calendars for the November 16th Board Meeting, 6:00 pm. Superintendent, Denise Coleman will provide the community with the latest update regarding the reopening plan and in-person learning.
Oster Needs Your Support!
The Education Fund is Open!
The Oster Home & School Club is an all-volunteer parent and community organization open to all Oster families. Our objective is to provide programs and activities that enrich the education of each student attending Oster Elementary School.
Each year we raise 100% of the funds necessary to support core enrichment programs in areas such as reading, math, music, and science that are not covered by the State or District. Although this school year looks very different, there are several critical programs that need to be funded. First, our upper-grade play structure is in need of replacing, and our goal is to get that taken care of while the students are away from campus. We have also provided each teacher with an additional $100 each for supplemental resources they may need during distance learning. Additionally, because of the COVID crisis, we are not able to hold in-person fundraisers this year, which means your donations are extremely important.
Our goal is to raise $40,000 through the Education Fund by November 13, 2020. Your direct donation, and any employer match, will help us pay for the student, school, and faculty programs that we have committed to for this school year. The class with the most participation will be rewarded with a prize!
Since we fund about $250 per student each year, the suggested donation per student is $250. No matter what you donate, we encourage every family to participate in this critical fund drive.
