Mariner Weekly
January 10, 2021
Good Morning Mariners!
The last thing we want is for anyone to get sick. As such, the hybrid schedule allows for appropriate social distancing. Surfaces in our building are being cleaned throughout the day and each classroom is equipped with hand sanitizing stations. Desk surfaces are cleaned every period. Everyone in the building is required to wear masks throughout the day. All of these steps are designed to minimize exposure.

PSAT/NMSQT
On Tuesday, January 26th, 2021, Toms River Regional Schools will once again, at no cost, be offering all juniors and sophomores at High School East, High School North, and High School South, the opportunity to take the PSAT/NMSQT (Practice SAT / National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test). This PSAT/NMSQT is a standardized test administered by the Collegeboard and cosponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The PSAT/NMSQT measures the knowledge and skills in reading, writing, and math students learn in the classroom - the same knowledge and skills your child needs to succeed in college and career.
When student takes the PSAT/NMSQT, they open the door to many benefits:
1. It connects students to more than $235 million in scholarships, including
the National Merit Scholarship Program.
2. It’s excellent practice for the SAT.
3. It’s the first step to a free, personalized SAT study plan.
4. It shows student progress on the road to college.
5. It shows what Advanced Placement Program (AP) courses your child is
ready for.
6. Serves as a substitute for alternate assessment for the NJSLA, the New
Jersey State Testing Requirement.
To register for the PSAT/NMSQT, please click on the attached link and complete the registration form. The deadline to register for the PSAT/NMSQT is Friday, January 15th, 2021 and only students who register will be administered the test.
The PSAT/NMSQT will be administered at the school the student attends.
For more information, please contact the Guidance Department at your child’s school.
Again, the Deadline for Registration is Friday, January 15th, 2021.
