The Polser Pride
Week of August 26th, 2019
What's Happening this Week?
Thank you to everyone who helped with rainy day dismissal on Friday! What a week! All of our safety drills went very well this week. Thank you for preparing and practicing with our students; it was very evident.
A couple of things to fix for next month: All doors must be locked at all times and you are using your magnets-3 doors were open. Your students must move to the hall and practice duck and cover. We will come by and check. After the check, they may sit on their pockets against the wall. Please wait for an all call (Shelter Drill Complete) before returning to your classes. This is the only drill we will make an all call for. Window covers used for Lock Down are only to be down during Lock Down Drills. We need to be able to see into classrooms.
Officer Young shared how well we all did during our Lock Down Drill on Friday! Great job everyone.
Our 5th Grade Future Hawks game is Friday, September 13th. We walk onto the field at 6:30 p.m. 5th graders get in free to the game. I have reminded Hebron about receiving flyer but I think I have also created my own which we will send out when we return from the holiday. 5th grade teachers are encouraged to attend and are able to leave after students run through the Super H tunnel.
Hebron Homecoming is the week of September 23rd! The parade is Wednesday, September 25th at 6:00 p.m. I am opening the parade up to all students who would like to walk. We will wear our house shirts to represent Polser STEM Academy. I would love some teacher volunteers to help with students. Please email me and let me know if you are available to help. I have included the Homecoming t-shirt order form if anyone is interested.
The Assessment Window opens on 9/3. Please be sure and check the assessment calendar found on our Polser Site for important information. It's a great idea to also complete a DRA on all of your students in order to organize them for guided reading. I have included a few important resources below. If you are missing students in iStation please make sure your rosters are correct. iStation correlates with Skyward rosters. Let me know if this is an issue. District Literacy Check-In Training coming soon!
Thank you for all of your hard work this week! I appreciate you all!
