Message from Mr. Jones, Principal
Bio on Mr. Jones:
Mr. Jeffrey Jones is excited to begin his third year at Nohl Canyon Elementary School. He is entering his 23rd year as an educator and 17th year with Orange Unified School District. He looks forward to continuing to build collaborative partnerships with staff, students and parents to provide innovative learning experiences for all students!
Mr. Jones previously served Orange Unified School District as an Assistant Principal at Villa Park High School for five years. Prior to his administration position, Mr. Jones taught Physical Education at Cerro Villa Middle School (nine years) and J.H. Hull Middle School (6 years) in the Torrance Unified School District. Mr. Jones earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration in 2012 from Concordia University. He completed his Kinesiology and Physical Education degree along with his teaching credential from California State University, Long Beach.
Mr. Jones’ passion is to create an environment where students, staff and parents feel welcomed and safe on a daily basis. He strives for all students to feel engaged in their learning environment. Nohl Canyon is that place and Mr. Jones is humbled to be part of a wonderful community.

Current Guidelines for the start of school: As of July 30, 2021
Please refer to the Superintendent's Newsletter below for more detailed information.
- Students enrolled at Nohl Canyon will attend in-person, 5 days/week.
- Students MUST wear masks while indoors.
- Students have the option to NOT wear mask while outdoors.
- While in the classroom, no social distancing is necessary.
- Staff MUST wear masks indoors when students are present.
- At this time, NO volunteers allowed on campus (only essential adults allowed).
- TK and Kindergarten orientations will be virtual.
- Back to School Night will be Virtual.
Information on First Day Procedures
DATA CONFIRMATION
Data Confirmation is part of the annual registration process. Prior to the first day of school, all families need to complete the DATA CONFIRMATION through PARENT PORTAL (use your parent log-in, NOT student log-in). Please click the following link for instructions and link to Parent Portal: https://www.orangeusd.org/enrollment/registration
Once the data confirmation is finalized and submitted, you can print and sign the emergency card. The school will collect the emergency card on the first day of school.

The Elementary Counselors have updated the OUSD Counseling website to include summertime SEL activities for students and families. They have even included activities each of them will be enjoying so that their students can participate as well! CARES Registration Information for 2021-2022 School Year
Monday, April 5, 2021
- Fall Registration begins for the 2021/22 school year.
- Please register on Eleyo (our new billing and attendance platform).
- If you are new to Eleyo you will need to create an account first before you can register for fall or summer.
- The registration fee is $100.00/$200.00 max per family and will be due and billed on Monday, August 2, 2021.
- August (Pro-rated) and September tuition will be due and billed on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 (first day of school).
Please register as soon as possible, space is limited at each location!
