Spotlight on Student Employment

Many wonderful things happen in April- A-Day, Involvement Awards, Administrative Professionals Day, and our favorite, National Student Employment Week. During the week of April 10-14 we celebrate students who also work both on and off campus and encourage others to join them in building valuable skills outside the classroom. You may have enjoyed a donut on the Concourse compliments of the AUCC and University Donuts, put a pin in our Where Do You Work? board, or enjoyed the numerous offices who participated in our Office Decorating Contest this past week as part of the fun. The culminating event is the Student Employee of the Year Award Ceremony where we honor students and supervisors nominated for their exceptional work. Congratulations to all those who received nominations and we encourage more students to follow in their footsteps. Take a look at Handshake to explore part-time opportunities to develop valuable skills and demonstrate your work ethic. Remember, the AUCC is here to help.

The 3rd floor office of the Career Center will be under construction for the spring semester so please go the 4th floor of Martin Hall for assistance. We will continue to offer the full range of services in this location and hours of operation will remain 7:45 AM – 4:45 PM with Drop-Ins offered from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM. If you have accessibility concerns, please call to arrange a meeting in an accessible location- 334-844-4744.

Ellis Bernstein

Ellis began his journey as a Graduate Assistant in the Career Center in August 2016. He graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and is currently in his third year of his PhD Program in Counseling Psychology. Not only does he work directly with students, but Ellis is always willing to be a helping hand around the office whenever it is needed. If you feel like you have seen him before, you’ve probably seen him playing the drums in his indie rock band. His band just recently recorded an album, and they have played at shows including SXSW in Austin, Secret Stages in Birmingham, and various shows in the Auburn area. Ellis is one of a kind, and we are grateful to have him as a part of the Career Center family!
