Woodbury Junior-Senior High School - Weekly Newsletter

Message From the Principal:
Hello Parents,
The opening of school is Tuesday, September 8 - one short week away! As such, I wanted to make sure you had all of the information you need so your child can have a smooth, successful start to the year.
As you are aware, Woodbury will be starting the year remotely. You may read Mr. Bell's letter and the detailed remote learning plan below. You should be aware that the school day is shortened - 7:35-12:36 and students are expected to follow their normal schedule each day live by logging into their classroom zoom links. These links will be found in the Google Classroom for each class; the details to log into their Google Classrooms and their schedules were shared in the mailing that you should have received this weekend.
Each class will begin with a direct instruction video (5-10 mins in length), proceed to an independent/guided practice portion in the middle where students will work in small virtual groups (Zoom breakout rooms for 20 mins), and end with a whole class review/wrap up of the day's concepts (5 mins). This format will be the same for each class so students can quickly become acclimated to the technology tools and focus on the instruction. Students will be virtually live with their teachers every day - Monday thru Friday. Attendance will be taken each period.
This week there are a few noteworthy events that may be applicable to you. A chromebook distribution day, a virtual student-teacher meet & greet, and 6th grade Back to School Night for parents all occur this week. Please take a look below for more details about each.
While this remote start is not ideal, it is our pledge to you to provide the same rigorous instruction, the same social-emotional support, and the same experiences whether we are remote, hybrid, or in-person. We will do our level-best to provide your family with a needed dose of normalcy.
As always, we are here to help you, so if there is anything we can do to assist you or your child, please just let us know!
In partnership,
Dr. Vivadelli

Chromebook Distribution Day
Additionally, the next day, Wednesday, September 2nd between the hours of 10:00 am and 4:00 pm will be reserved for handling previously assigned chromebooks that are in need of repair. Parents or guardians must bring broken or damaged chromebooks and/or chargers on this day, Wednesday September 2nd, only.
Once again those two dates: This Tuesday, September 1st for chromebook and hotspot pick up and Wednesday. September 2nd for chromebook repair, both days between the hours of 10:00 am and 4:00 pm outside the rear entrance of the Junior Senior High School.
Any student who already has a chromebook/hotspot from last year and those devices are working fine, does not need to come to this distribution day.
Virtual Student-Teacher Meet & Greet
Get a chance to meet your teacher and experiment with technology before the first day of school! Students are required to meet with each of their teachers remotely. Here are the steps: Open your school email account on the morning of September 3rd. Accept all invitations from teachers to join their Google classrooms. At 12:30, log into the Google classroom that is listed as your first period class. Follow the directions of the teacher in that Google classroom! Your teachers will dismiss you to your next class at 10 minute intervals.
Period 1 12:30 – 12:40 Period 2 12:40 – 12:50 Period 3 12:50 – 1:00 Period 4 1:00 – 1:10 Period 5 1:10 – 1:20 Period 6 1:20 – 1:30 Period 7 1:30 – 1:40 Period 8 1:40 – 1:50
