Principal Update
Happy Friday RSI Parents and Family Members,
Thank you, thank you, thank you.....for the tremendous participation and support during our month of March PTO Read-A-Thon. As of today, you've all raised $37,400 in support of our RSI Hawks PTO. I would like to thank our PTO board for their efforts in preparation, promoting, and completing this event. A special thanks to "Betty the Bookworm" who visited us throughout the month to help inspire reading motivation which led to 500,612 minutes of reading by our young hawks. "Betty" who is actually our PTO President, Jess Hodge, went all out in her character and is now known schoolwide. It is safe to say all of us at RSI will never forget "Betty the Bookworm!" Again, thanks to everyone for supporting our focus on literacy and raising money for our PTO. Job well done!
- See "Betty's" picture below.
I don't have to remind any of you that Spring Break will begin next Friday, April 1st. You have no idea how excited I am, as a principal, to not have students on this date for obvious reasons. It is my hope you will all be gathering with your family members to enjoy a trip or have some downtime at home for this upcoming break. When we return we will hit the testing season and the end of the year will come rather quickly. I'll share more on testing details next week.
I wish you a wonderful and safe weekend.
Sincerely,
Dana Kaminski, Ph.D.

5th Grade Summary:

Try This at Home:
Ask your child how they can know when they’ve found a good solution to an interpersonal problem.
6th Grade Summary:
In this week’s lesson, your child will think through different ways to resolve a conflict and choose the one they think is best.
Question:
Ask your child why they think different conflicts need different solutions. Tell your child about a time when you had to think about the best way to solve a conflict. What did you think about? Did it work out in the end?
Covid Info for Families
Please remember to send your student to school healthy. If a student is ill and has any of the symptoms of Covid listed below, we encourage you to get your student tested using a PCR test, which is available via Fishers Health Department (COVID Vaccine | Fishers, IN - Official Website) or the Indiana Department of Health (ISDH - Novel Coronavirus: COVID-19 Testing Information). PCR tests are the most accurate and provide less risk of a false positive or negative result. A visit to your physician is also suggested if you feel this is not Covid-related, then a doctor's note would be needed for your student to return to school. Please do not send your child to school ill or while waiting for Covid test results.

Response-to-Instruction (RtI)
Response to Instruction (RtI) is a general education initiative designed to provide high quality instruction and interventions matched to student needs and using learning rate over time and level of performance to make important educational decisions. The RtI model is based on a three-tiered model of service delivery with a focus on early intervention and prevention of academic and behavioral concerns. Data collected during this process provides valuable information regarding students’ educational progress and response to interventions. Students who do not demonstrate a response to well-implemented, scientifically-based interventions at the Tier 3 level would be referred for an educational evaluation to determine eligibility for special education. RtI is a component of HSE’s Child Find Process.
