What Texas looked like
There was a time when Texas was not a state, but a country. Texas did not look like what Texas looks like now. Texas was bigger than it is now.
Mexico owned Texas but The United States did not know that. Some Americans walked into Texas and they thought it was the U.S.A.. Then, Mexico said no more Anglo Americans
can come into Texas and that led to the Texas
Revolution.
Then Texas gained Independence and became a country.Texas Presidents
Texas Presidents
Sam Houston was the first president and he was the third president. He was born March 2, 1793 and died July 26,1863.Sam Houston died of phenomena.
Mirabeau Lamar
Lamar was the second president. Latter he joined the army in the Battle of Monetary. He was born August 16 ,1798 and died December 19, 1859. He died of a heart attack.

David Burnet
David Burnet was serving as a interim president.He was born April 14,1788.

Events that Led to Texas Annexation
- The constitution of 1836 outlined how the government would work.The government was one organization of Republic Of Texas.Voters chose Sam Houston to be their first president .They elected Mirabeau B. Lamar to be their Vice President.
- Judges would decide whether the laws were fair and how to apply them.To pay for the work of the government,Texas taxed citizens.
- Immigrants also flocked to the Republic Of Texas.The population grew by about 7,000 people each year in the 1840s .Within a short time,there were private and religious schools,academics,and colleges in Texas.
- When the first flag of Republic Of Texas was made,it had a BLUE STAR which whenever they looked at it,it reminded the people of Texas for their struggle of Independence .But in 1836,the Republic Of Texas chose a different flag.Three years later,in 1839 the Republic changed the flag.That flag exactly looked like the same flag like our state,Texas's flag.
- After the election,the new leaders named Columbia as the capital of Texas .In December,the capital moved to Houston,which was a small town named for Sam Houston.The town grew quickly after becoming the capital.
- In 1838,Mirabeau B. Lamar became president of the republic.
- in 1841,Houston ran for president a second time and was elected.Following Houston's second term.term. Anson Jones was elected president of Republic.jones served until Texas became a state .David Burnet,Sam Houston,Mirabeau Lamar,and Anson Jones were all important to be founding Texas as a state.
