Homeschooling Advice

10 Homeschooling Fears and How to Conquer Them

"How can I be sure that I cover everything?

Choose a thoroughly researched curriculum that you can trust to guide you through the major goalposts of an education.

Then accept the fact that you will not cover everything. And neither do public schools. How did we ever come to adopt an impossible standard of covering everything? (And who defines everything, anyway?)

Instead of being scared that you won’t teach them everything, overcome fear by giving your children the tools and skills to learn anything. Research skills, reading for meaning, and technical ability set your children up for success in this modern age."

Local Events

UVSA Tet Festival

"The Tết Festival of Southern California (Hoi Tet Sinh Vien) is recognized as the nation’s largest Vietnamese Lunar New Year Festival. Since 1982, the first UVSA Tết Festival started in Southern California. Since then, the Festival has significantly improved in many areas, a few of them are a better display of the Vietnamese culture and traditions, and more collaborations with the local community organizations. UVSA has had multiple homes for the Tết Festival in the past. We were formerly located in Garden Grove until 2013, and our current home is OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa. Ultimately, no matter where the location is, UVSA’s vision to hosting the Tết Festival stays true, and that is to create an avenue for everyone to have a better understanding of the Vietnamese culture in many ways: vibrant arrays of traditional food, traditional performance and entertainment, and cultural exhibitions. This upcoming year, we welcome everyone to celebrate Tết with us at our 38th Annual UVSA Tết Festival."
