Important Information:
- In order to keep everyone safe at arrival and dismissal times, please do not use your cell phone while driving in the school zones around MPE especially in the car rider lines. Talking on a cell phone held up to your ear is very dangerous to our children and staff and is illegal in school zones.
This is a reminder about Altitude Spirit Night on March 2nd and 3rd. This is a free night for our Panthers to have fun and fitness. March 2nd is for our ECSE-2nd grade and March 3rd is for our 3-5th grade students. We had to split it up so we could keep the groups manageable. Please be sure our Panthers bring socks to jump in. We want to thank Ms. Segura for providing this wonderful opportunity for our Panthers to have fun and use up some of that energy they have stored up!
Morning drop off reminders for Car Riders. In the morning, our car rider line is open form 7:25 until 8:00 am. At 8:00 am the line is closed, and all parents are directed to the front office for drop off. The front office driveway opens to drop off up at 8 am.
For the safety of the campus, please do not park in fire zones in front of school. All fire zones are painted red and are located near the major entrances of the school. Cars parked in fire zones could be towed or ticketed. Please keep these areas clear for emergency vehicles.
STEP IT UP school fundraiser began on Monday, February 10th. Please help us raise money for our school, this fundraiser will end on February 25th. On March 20th, ALL students will get to participate in the Day of Awesomeness jump and play party outside.
Please make sure your child reads at least 30 minutes every night. Research says if a student reads every day for at least 20 minutes a day, they will hear 1.8 million words a year, and are more likely to score better than 90% of their peers. Our MPE PTA needs you! Show your support for our children by joining our PTA!
From the Principal
The other day I was asked to think about an unexpected outcome that occurred on campus, and in that moment my mind jumped to Thursday, February 20th. On that day we actually had two unexpected outcomes. First, we had our PBIS Movie Day and children earned 30 minutes to watch a movie and eat popcorn in the cafe. I reached out to PTA and they said they would do their best to help our children with the popcorn. My concern was that there is a very small core of PTA members/volunteers who are able to help our 910 kids. In this situation, we would need about 800 bags of popcorn in a time span of a couple of hours. Second, we had a staff PTA hospitality luncheon planned on the same day. So like I do just about every day, I hoped all would work out as it usually does for our very special school.
We not only had just enough popcorn for every student, we also fed the entire staff with the help of our regular core of volunteers and some new ones that answered the call for international foods. In addition, several of are area businesses provided donations such as bbq, donuts, pasta, tea, chips and salsa. It is times like these, where I want celebrate all the wonderful gifts our children and staff are given, and like always I encourage you to please join our PTA. They truly bless our children and staff with their constant support just about every day, and they always welcome anyone to help out in various ways. Volunteering does not always mean coming to MPE, some of our volunteers take things home for teachers to cut, fold, or sort. There are so many ways you can help our school, so if you have an hour this year please get involved.
It is like they say, "it takes a village to raise a child" and let's make our village stronger by supporting each other this year.
Your Proud Principal,
Dr. Martinez
