Easley Weekly Updates
Everything You Need to Know For The Coming Week
October 20, 2020
A Note from the principal
Hello Easley families,
I'm reaching out with a few more important updates.
New Grade Level Zooms with the Specials Teachers
This quarter, our Easley Specials teachers will be offering optional "Grab Bag" events via Zoom. These Monday & Tuesday events will be led by our Specials Team and will consist of fun, surprise activities for an entire grade level to enjoy as one large group. Please know that each grade level will have multiple opportunities throughout the quarter to attend an optional specials session. Each "Grab Bag" event will run from 1:30-2:00pm and on the assigned day. (Classroom teachers will provide necessary Zoom links & passwords prior to their grade level's first Grab Bag offering.)
Please note that while these 30-minute Zoom "Grab Bag" events will often be Specials-related, they are NOT the same thing as students' regularly-scheduled academic Specials instruction! Students should still be completing their weekly Specials lessons on Monday-Friday and should view the occasional "Grab Bag" offerings as just a little "something extra" they can opt to enjoy a few times throughout the quarter. Our Specials team can't wait to see you and have some fun! Classroom teachers will post reminders on Bloomz and Canvas and you the sessions will also be posted in the Weekly update and on the website calendar.
National Bullying Prevention Month
October is National Bullying Prevention month. This week, we will have a kindness spirit week at Easley to recognize the importance of being kind, accepting, and inclusive. Click here for more information about the themes for each day. If you participate, you can take a picture and tag @EasleyYRElem on twitter!

Accessing Grades and Report Cards
Grades for the first quarter will be coming out October 23, and we want you to know how your child’s doing so that we can work together to support your family. Because we are not in school this quarter, you will not be receiving a traditional report card. Instead, you will receive your child’s grades through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If you don’t already have a Parent Portal account, your teacher can share access information with you, and you’ll find a link to the Parent Portal on our school website. If you have any questions or need help, please contact your teacher or Elizabeth Varner and elizabeth.varner@dpsnc.net.
