Principal's End of Year
June 2017 - Summertime!
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
This year was eventful with many exciting accomplishments as well as challenges. Our teachers have worked extremely hard to improve our instruction of Common Core curriculum, we implemented new PBIS program (PBIS.org), and we have also added some great new programs - Art Walk, free after-school enrichment and academic support programs. Much of this work could not have been done without the help of our parent community led by our Co-Parent Club Presidents Tina Mitchell and Andy Eberhard. I appreciate all of the many different faces of volunteers at our events. Whether it's game booth volunteers, the clean-up team, or the guys on the BBQ, field trip drivers, or classroom helpers you are all appreciated!
I believe the strength of our school community is what makes us so successful to provide the best educational environment for the students. Partnerships are about working together to determine what is best for our school and to solve issues that arise. I look forward to working with you next year.

During Vannoy's Summer Makerspace, your students will have access to a variety of cool Maker materials, hand tools, microscontollers to build robots and even 3D printers. Based on the Growth Mindset movement, Makerspaces challenge students to dream big, explore, design (fail? design again!)and appreciate the joy of discovery.

A few guidelines:
-A parent or guardian will have to sign their student(s) in and out of the Makerspace (including students enrolled in summer school).
- PLEASE make sure your student WANTS to be at Makerspace before signing them in.
-Students are welcome to stay for the entire session as long as they are actively engaged in Makerspace activities.
- Parent/guardian needs to be available to pick up any student who is not appropriately engaged in Makerspace activities.
-Parents/guardians are welcome to stay! Our volunteers can always use the extra help.
ALSO!
Do you have a special "Maker"skill? Come share your knowledge around electrical circuits, sewing, using tools, knitting, architecture, civil engineering, robotics or other! We're looking for parents/grandparents/siblings/family friends who would like to come help our students explore the wonderful world of Designing and Making.
Please write to Christine Tengan (ctenganswy@gmail.com) if you (or someone you know) would like to participate!Vannoy's Walk-Through Registration Info
Every student must go through registration each year. This year we will continue to utilize the Parent Portal for Online Registration. Online Registration begins August 1st. You MUST access your Parent Portal account in order to register for the new school year.
To access your Parent Portal account and complete Online Registration, visit http://parentportal.cv.k12.ca.us. You will need to click through and complete all required information in each tab in order to complete the online registration process.
Once you are at the "Documents" tab, be sure to print and complete all required forms and bring them on August 15th to Walk-Through Registration. Without the required printouts, you will not be able to register your child for the new school year.
If you are unable to attend Walk-Through Registration, please complete your documents through online registration and make arrangements to either (1) have a designee walk through your child's paperwork or (2) make arrangements to drop off your documents early to the Vannoy Office and we will have a Parent Club Board Member walk through your paperwork on August 15th.
The Vannoy Office is closed on Thursday, June 15th and will reopen on Wednesday, August 9th.
