Intolerable Acts
Passed by British parliament in 1774 after Boston Tea Party
What is it?
The acts took away Massachusetts self-government and historic rights which triggered outrage and resistance in the 13 colonies. This was a key development in the American revolution in 1775.
Reaction of the colonists
Colonists viewed acts as a violation of their constitutional and natural rights as well as their colonial charters. They saw the acts as threatening to the liberties of all British America.
