Digital Learning in the Classroom - Spring Highlights
Nearpod & Virtual Reality
Ms. Archer's Algebra 1 students at ECHS used virtual reality and a set of VR headsets as a part of their Nearpod lesson. It was an excellent addition and provided students with a really engaging real-world application to the problem they were solving. The VR location was a place they had studied about in their Spanish and World History classes. Great cross-curricular connections!
Website Creation & Project-Based Learning
Mr. Rushing's 8th grade U.S. History students at KMS engaged in a project-based learning activity in which groups of students worked collaboratively to build a website in the NEW Google Sites. Students had to communicate the social, political, and economic effects of the Civil War through artifacts on their pages. Students created the artifacts using sheets, docs, and even movie-making tools.
Chemistry Lab Data
Students in Ms. Turcios's chemistry classes at KHS used Google Sheets to collect lab data and create a graph from it. Then, students imported the graph and the table into their Google Doc lab write up for the data analysis piece. This was a great use for Sheets.
Coming Soon - May Tech Tips
If you are a Google Classroom user, next month's flyer will explain what you can do about archiving your classes and setting up your GC for next year.
Also, if you are an employee that uses Google Drive and will be changing campuses, departments, or districts, I will be sharing some important information with you about what you can do with all of the documents in your Drive so that you do not lose your work.
