STUDENT ARTISTS RECOGNIZED🎨
LHS Art Students were recognized in the Gettysburg Times for illustrating a new book about the Pleasant Grove School, popularly known as Mud College. The book’s author, Elizabeth Habermann, presented each student with a copy of “The Whole School Fits in One Room?” during an event at the one-room schoolhouse, which was built in 1869. During the past school year, when the students were in an advanced placement art class, they worked with Habermann and their teacher, Mrs. Trinh Sudak, to each create two pieces of original artwork to appear in the 72-page children’s book.
Congratulations to Lily Ann Barker, Emma Clements, Elias Jirout, Garrett Hutchinson, Bailey Harden, Kylee Richards, Malaina Kowalczyk (missing from photo) and Savanna Lawson (missing from photo).
Happy National School Counseling Week! February 5th-9th
LHS recognizes the vital role school counselors play in the lives of students. School Counselors provide a wealth of support through each student's academic career. Thank you Counselors for helping all students succeed!
FROM THE NURSE'S OFFICE 👩⚕️
With the winter upon us please be sure that your student is dressed appropriately with the proper footwear and clothing for the weather. Also remind your students that if they are driving in the winter weather please be careful.
Just Some Reminders:
If your student is sick please keep them home. According to our school guidelines, your student should be fever free for 24 hours (that is without any medications), before returning to school. Also, according to the school guidelines, the student should be free from vomiting and diarrhea for 24 hours (without the use of medication), before returning to school.
The nurse’s office does not have allergy medicine for students, if your child needs allergy medicine please have them take it before coming to school. The nurse’s office also does not have any cold medicine. If your child is in need of cold medicine please be sure that they are taking a 6 -12 hours medicine before coming to school so that it will get them through the school day.
All 11th graders are required by Pennsylvania school health law to have a physical to enter the eleventh grade. If you have not already done so please turn in all completed physical forms as well as update immunization records to the school nurse.
Be sure that your students are eating breakfast so that they are fueled to start the day. Breakfast is available for free in the cafeteria every morning before school starts for the students convenience.
The best way to keep your students healthy is to remind them to wash their hands with soap and water, use hand sanitizer whenever they enter the classroom or cafeteria, and to also try to avoid individuals that are sick.
