Alcoholism
What is it?
Alcoholism is a disease caused by being an alcoholic. Both your body, along with your mind are craving alcohol. Alcoholism is a very common disease. According to statistics, 53% of the adult population in the United States have admitted to having an alcoholic problem.
Common Drug
Alcohol is the most widely used and abused drug. However, unlike some drugs, alcohol is legal after a certain age. Alcohol isn't like most drugs because it does not always cause addiction.
Why Do People Become Addicted?
Cross-addiction
Transfers of addiction &/or taking two or more drugs at a time.

Family history with addiction and abuse, genetics
Religion & Culture
In some cultures, drinking is a custom.
Some start out as casual drinkers, then eventually become addicts.
