BACK TOGETHER!

Our first few days back together have been filled with fun, friends, and learning! We can't wait for the next 177 days. I want to give a special welcome to our new families. We are so glad you chose Parsons Elementary as your school community. As you probably already know, the Parsons community is one of the best in Gwinnett and that is largely in part to the community support and our wonderful teachers.

Breakfast and Lunch Program Updates

This year, like last year, school breakfast and lunch will be available at no cost to all students through Federal Grants. That said, it is also very important that parents of students eligible for Free and/or Reduced Priced Lunch still complete the annual application for the Free and/or Reduced Priced Lunch Program. Documentation of enrollment in this program is often a requirement to access other programs that provide resources to families and schools. If you believe your family is eligible for the program or has enrolled in the program in the past, I encourage you to access the online application in the message below and complete the application as soon as possible.


During the first two weeks of school, we ask that parents not attend lunch with their students. Teachers use these first few weeks of school to establish routines, procedures, and expectations for lunch.

Health Guidelines to Minimize the Risk of Covid

GCPS schools have established reasonable and precautionary practices within the school to minimize the risk of infection and/or spread of COVID-19.


Guidance is subject to change based on updated recommendations from the CDC/Department of Public Health and will be communicated to local school HRT members.

  • Parsons will provide opportunities for regular handwashing.
  • Parsons will implement the custodial schedule/processes to clean high touch areas during the school day. ​​​​​​​
  • Administration, along with guidance from our local Health Response Team, will clearly communicate and follow COVID-19 criteria for return to work/school in consultation with county nurses.
  • Face coverings are required for all staff, students and visitors.
  • Visitors will have limited access to students.

Face Shields

Many of our students are wearing face shields as an additional layer of protection along with the mask. Several of our students leave the shield on while they eat. Face shields cannot take the place of masks, but they can be used as an additional layer of protection.

Afternoon Transportation

All transportation changes must be made in writing. Whenever you need to make a change to your child's afternoon transportation plan, please complete an Afternoon Transportation Change Form in the front office no later than 12:00 pm the day of the change. We will utilize this form to create the appropriate afternoon transportation pass. Please remember the GCPS Bus Rule: No passes will be issued for play dates, birthdays, weekend sleepovers, etc. For security reasons we DO NOT accept transportation changes through phone calls or emails.

Student Check Out

Anyone checking out a child must present photo identification and be listed in our system as someone able to have access to the student. If you need to make changes to your list of approved emergency contacts, you may make changes on the Parent Portal or stop by the office to update this information. As a reminder, students may NOT be checked out after 3:00 PM. For assistance in updating contact information on the parent portal, please visit https://www.gcpsk12.org/Page/11430.

School Visitors

There will be restrictions around parents visiting our school this year. Parents may volunteer at the school, but only in areas with limited access to students. For the safety of our children, all visitors must check in and out through the office and wear a visitor’s badge while in the building.

Parents should not visit the classroom in the morning. If you want to discuss the progress of your child, you should call, send an email, or schedule a conference appointment at a time when class is not in session. Staff hours are generally 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

If you need any help with obtaining school supplies for your student, please reach out to our school counselor, Mona Vosough at mona.vosough@gcpsk12.org. We have some supplies to share if your student needs supplies for the classroom or at home to complete homework.

What is PTA?

PTA is the Parent Teacher Association and we make a strong community for all of the children at Parsons. Join us for $7 on My Payments Plus to become a PTA member and we will be stronger together.


PTA Executive Board will hold a meeting on Monday, August 9th at 2:00 PM. Attendance is not required, but everyone is invited to learn about ways to volunteer.


PTA General Membership Meeting will be on Tuesday, August 24th at 6:00 PM in the Cafeteria and all PTA members are encouraged to attend this general membership meeting to review the budget.

PTA Clean & Beautiful

PTA Clean & Beautiful has been busy getting the school ready for the first day of school. Thank you, Home Depot Store 1754, for partnering with Parson’s Elementary PTA to provide beautiful flowers and soil to enhance the appearance of our school! Parsons Elementary PTA appreciates your continued support to our community. PTA also replaced the soccer nets on the playground.
