January 10, 2022
Greetings Mustangs,
2022 is off to a great start! Students and staff are excited to be back at school and we are working together to keep our students and staff healthy and ready to focus on our mission to Inspire Students, Excel Academically, Strengthen Community.
There has been updated guidance from the CDC and new policies adopted by the Anchorage School District. Below you will find links to all relevant reference material for COVID isolation updates. In the event that you or your family is ill please utilize the resources and/or reach out to Nurse Amy.

COVID 19 Updates Home Screening Guidelines (All languages may not be updated, but communications is working on this)
In addition, ASD continues to work with Beacon/Beachtree to provide Covid testing to the ASD community. Testing is available to symptomatic and close contact, staff, students, and household members. Chugiak High School is a testing site and the testing trailer is located in the back parking lot on the East side of the building. This testing site is open Monday–Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m and no appointment is needed.
Additionally, I want to share a video about social media safety for students. It was put together by Victims for Justice through a grant by Anchorage Health and Human Services.
Sincerely,
Megan Hatswell
Principal-Chugiak High School

Masks at Activities
Masks are still required for spectators during indoor ASD sports and activities, even though there is no mask mandate in the Municipality at large. Similarly, athletes are still required to wear masks indoors when not actively participating. Please respect this policy and support our school administration and staff with your compliance to this policy.
Spring Parent Teacher Conferences
There are no spring parent teacher conferences for secondary schools. February 18th is a professional development day for teachers with no school for students. Monday-Thursday are full school days for all students.
Message from Student Government
Hey Mustangs!
It's time again for our annual Red Out Fundraiser against Eagle River High School. What is Red Out? Red Out is where both Chugiak and Eagle River Student Governments raise money for the American Heart Association by selling AHA T-shirts for $10. The school who sells the most shirts (raising the most money) wins bragging rights. We kick this event off with a Heart Healthy Spirit Week, School-Wide Assembly (Friday, January 21st), and round it up at the Varsity Girls and Boys Chugiak v. Eagle River High School basketball game on Saturday, January 22nd hosted this year by Eagle River.
When you buy your shirt you'll want to wear it on the day of the assembly and then again at the game. The more red the better! T-shirts will be sold during lunch all this week and next for $10 and cash only. Once shirts and sizes are gone they are gone so purchase yours as soon as you can.
Heart Healthy Spirit Week (January 18th-21st)
Monday (1/17): No School
Tuesday (1/18): Sports Jersey Day
Wear your favorite teams sports Jersey or shirt with your favorite sports team
Wednesday (1/19): Work Out Wednesday
Thursday (1/20): Heart Hero Thursday
Wear your favorite super hero attire or who you consider to be your hero!
Friday (1/21): RED OUT
As much red as you can along with your American Heart Association T-Shirt
As always, we appreciate you being appropriate with your clothing choices and continuing to dress for success. Remember, if you have to question whether your outfit is appropriate or not, chances are it's not.
Make Good Choices and we look forward to seeing your spirit soon!
ACTIVITIES
As semester one came to a close, grade checks for athletes eligibility have been completed. Athletes and coaches were notified on Friday if they are ineligible to play. The district and ASAA require a 2.0 to be eligible for sports participation.
There have been lots of COVID-related changes to track with lately, so I wanted to send out a reminder that masks are still required for spectators during indoor ASD sports and activities, even though there is no mask mandate in the Municipality at large. Similarly, athletes are still required to wear masks indoors when not actively participating.
The activities office has new Chugiak Spirit Wear Apparel available for purchase. If interested please stop by the activities office between 7:30-3:00. Please see attached photos.
If you have any questions please feel free to stop by or call the Activities Office at 907-742-3067.
