Principal's Notes and Highlights
Happy Friday!
I was witness to a really cool moment this week. I was working with a third-grade student on beginning and ending sounds. Mr. Shipley's class was at PE so we sat down in his room to work. We were using flashcards and this was the second time we had practiced. The student did extremely well and only missed one in the entire set. This was awesome, but this was not the cool moment. That happened next.
As we were cleaning up, the sixth-grade students started filtering back into class. I turned to the group and said, "Hey guys, (third-grade student) just dominated these flashcards. He only missed one!" Unprompted, one of the boys walked over to us, held out his arm to fist bump with this student, and said: "Way to go!"
I wish you could have seen the smile on this third-graders face when he exchanged fist bumps with Brady Schneider (6th Grade). Brady made his day and having a sixth-grade student recognize his success meant more to him than anything I could have said. It was a classy move, and it was a great example of the power of positive peer influence.
- THIS IS WHY WE PLAY-Our Kindergarten Draft Party was a success! Mrs. Netser did a wonderful job remaking the NBA Draft Board (background) with the names of our incoming students. I had the privilege of acting as the commissioner and taking photos with all of our newest Huskies! #class of 2032
- Starting Monday, March 25th CSA Lincoln Elementary will be offering BREAKFAST IN THE GYM! Currently, students who choose to eat breakfast do so in the Art room, but after Spring Break we are moving this to the gym in an effort to increase awareness and the importance of eating breakfast. The cost is FREE for students who qualify for meal assistance; $1.35 for students that do not qualify for meal assistance. Your child does not need to participate in breakfast at school. If you prefer to not have your child participating in breakfast at school you have the option to control your student’s meal account or you can tell them not to pick up breakfast. By logging onto Mylunchmoney.com it is possible to register your student for free and manage their meal accounts. All you need is their student ID (You can contact Kristen if you need this information) and birth date to begin.
- Third-Grade students will be taking the iRead test the week we return from Spring Break. It is critical that all third-grade students return from break on time as the window closes at the end of the week. This is a high stakes state-mandated test. We are very confident that our students will perform well on the test.
- I was very proud of your children during the Town Hall Meeting this morning. We had a special guest, Julia Martin, present for her senior project. She has Epilepsy, and she brought her service dog, Winnie, to school to talk about the importance of service dogs. The gym was silent while she presented and they had great questions to ask her at the end.
- Fifth-grade students were busy working in the community at their jobs this week. Check out the CSA Lincoln Community Facebook Page for photos and details of where they went. Thank you again to our many community partners who made this possible!
- One last reminder that we have school through next Thursday, March 14th. We plan to take advantage of this time to continue to improve and get better. School attendance is important!
Have a great weekend!

Staff Spotlight
Who is that person working car line? The suggestion came up at a CIC meeting to share information about our staff so you can put a name with a face.
Miss Megan Fenske
Miss Fenske has been at CSA Lincoln Elementary for three years. She previously taught fifth-grade before moving to third-grade this year. She is originally from Illinois, but we won't hold that against her. :) She has morning gym duty. Megan has grown as an educator these past few years, and her students have made tremendous strides. Her and Mr. Wright make a great third-grade team!
