District statement regarding masks for the week of 9/20/21 - 9/24/21:
The weather forecast for next week-- Monday, Sept. 20 through Friday, Sept. 24-- reveals more moderate temperatures. Therefore, and in accordance with Executive Order 251 (EO 251), masks will be required in all buildings and on buses.
Our teachers and staff will continue to seek alternate spaces to maximize social distance and allow for mask breaks when appropriate. Additionally, if a non-air-conditioned building or space becomes uncomfortable despite the anticipated moderate outdoor temperatures, our teachers and school leaders have the opportunity to modify restrictions and adjust as necessary.
It’s also important to remember that, based on the latest guidelines, students who properly and consistently wear masks as required and who have maintained at least three feet of distance from someone who tests positive for COVID-19 will not be considered a close contact.
Moving forward as we settle into the fall season, the district will communicate in this manner only if the excessive heat exemption of EO 251 becomes applicable, and/or if the mask mandate itself changes. Thank you as always for your support and cooperation.
