The Principal's Corner
The start of the school year has been absolutely amazing! All of our new kindergarten students are practicing walking in the hallways and making new friends. I think each one of them views recess as the highlight of the day. All of our new Cougars have been paired up with a friend in class to transition into our school. Teachers have invested time in routines and procedures and our all of our Cougars are meeting those expectations. Time was invested in building relationships and classroom community. Now, we are building on that foundation and slowly getting into instruction and learning.
We have an exciting event coming up during the month of August. Peter Piper Pizza Back-to-School night will be August 19th.
Thank you for your patience at dismissal with parent pick-up and Garden Gate for walk-up parents. Please remember that you need to remain in your car for our car pick-up option and wait for your child(ren) to be called. Make sure your student knows how they are getting home consistently. Here is the list for your reference:
- Parent pick-up (car riders)
- Garden gate (parent walk-up or walkers)
- Back gate (for neighborhood walkers/bike riders)
- Bus
Our first fire drill is scheduled for August 8th and our first lockdown drill is August 16th. I will send an email after the lockdown drill as a reminder to talk about it when your student arrives home.
Canyon Rim spirit shirt day is every Friday, now you can plan the laundry schedule accordingly. The kids know I'm consistent with a CRE shirt and Vans.
Looking forward to a fantastic year!

Mesa Police Department Presents "Officer Adopt a School"
We are excited to let you know about a new Mesa Police Department program called “Officer Adopt a School.” Throughout the school year you will see patrol officers and detectives on our campus, connecting with our students, staff, and school community.
The Officer Adopt a School program aims to deter violence and crime activity while strengthening the relationship between Mesa Police, our schools, the students and their families. We want our community to know we are there when you need us.
Police officers will begin visiting our campus at the start of the school year and introduce themselves to the staff and students. If you see a Mesa Police Officer at our school, come and say hi. We want parents to meet the officers as well!
The Mesa Police Department looks forward to this new opportunity to serve and protect our Mesa residents.
We are extremely grateful for the positive relationship our school and district have with the Mesa Police Department and look forward to building on this throughout the school year. Thank you for your continued support of our school!
