Parenting Corner (Peace and SOARing)
Beginning today and ending next week, Ms. McCrea and I will be speaking to each grade level about the 2022-2023 school year. More specifically, we’ll review expectations for positive behavior in classrooms, hallways, the cafeteria (what I like to call “the dining room”), recess, etc. and how having a great school starts with them (the students!). As we were speaking to the 2nd graders this morning, I was moved by all of their little smiling faces and told them that Mountain View is a school of “peace and love” and that we want to work together to make it a place where everyone belongs. In addition to covering other things, Ms. McCrea concluded her time by encouraging our young eagles to SOAR this year!
Please take a moment next week (if you do not have a second grader) to ask your child(ren) about the little “pep talk” that Ms. McCrea and I gave them in the cafeteria. More specifically, please talk with them about how peace is not the absence of conflict, but rather the presence of justice and how to resolve conflict when it occurs (this is something we are focusing on this year as we incorporate more “peace mats” in our classrooms). Also, please talk with them about what SOARing will look like for them this year. What goal(s) do they have? Who can help them reach their goal(s)?
Thanks again for sharing your kids with us this year! We’re so glad to have them back!

Parent Portal
The parent portal is an online portal accessible anywhere on the web that parents can log in to and see all of their children in one place, their grades, assignments, scores, attendance, schedules, and teacher comments for each school your children attend.
Parents need to contact the school to get access information to create an account in PowerSchool.
