Here's What We Are Learning
Reading Workshop
This week during our reading workshop we turned our attention to continuing to understand the theme in fiction text and using the "Big Question- What surprised me?" in nonfiction texts. We used the story, Kamishibai Man to help us with this. We also began working on strengthening our book conversations. Ask us what surprised us in the Kamishibai Man.
Stories on Wheels with the Kamishibai Man
Writing Workshop
During writing this week we focused on great endings for our fiction stories. We read a few of our favorite books to see how authors end their stories. We then tried out different endings for our own stories. This coming week we will begin writing informational texts. We'll start with a review of personal narratives and add text features. We will then write an informational piece about holidays around the world.
Math Workshop
We continued to work on multiplication and division this week during our math workshop time. We have come to the end of unit 4. We will review this unit on Monday and Tuesday and then take our Unit test on Wednesday. Once we have finished with this, we will turn our attention to place value with whole numbers and decimals.
