September 3, 2020
This year school begins for all students on September 3, 2020, and for almost all of our students, it will be in a remote fashion. The 2020-2021 School is a beginning like no other in my 32 years of experience in the field of education. And yet, the beginning of the school year provides some degree of normalcy and comfort for our students during these uncertain times. This is essential for the wellbeing of our students as we become ever more acclimated to the many new norms (e.g., wearing masks, social distancing, etc.), while still navigating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Please know that we are here to support your child and have a variety of things in place to both support our online learning programs and the social-emotional wellbeing of our students. As always, if you have any questions or concerns your first point of contact should be your child's teacher. We remain partners in your child's development and education, and we look forward to continuing to work together.
We plan to transition to our hybrid model of instruction on October 19, 2020, and then after that return to fully in-person learning. Of course, much of this will depend on the status of the COVID-19 virus in our community, wide-spread availability of a vaccine, and other issues related to the pandemic. As we have in the past, we will take our direction and guidance in this area from the Centers for Disease Control, New Jersey Department of Health, New Jersey Department of Education, and out local municipal authorities.
We wish everyone a successful and healthy start to the new school year, and know that we will continue to Shine Bright Edison!
