Happy week before Thanksgiving Break! We have all been working so hard and staying so focused that the break has snuck up on me. I want each of you to know that I am grateful for you. I feel confident that “my team” always has my back, that the kindergarten team will teach our babies to read, that the first grade team will help our students grow in self-confidence and develop learning behaviors, that the second grade team will prepare our student for the move upstairs, that the third grade team will catch students in the achievement gap, that the fourth grade team will begin to guide our students to begin abstract forms of thinking and the fifth grade team will prepare our students for middle school. I am grateful for the cultural arts team, their creativity adds color, music, and imagination to our student’s lives and the special education team who works so hard to include All of our students. At BPES it is evident that we put students first! Thank you for being you, being dependable, being supportive, being the best TEAM in AACPS. You are awesome!

School Improvement Team Meeting
I am excited to share our new SIP. Our team has worked tirelessly with our Director of School Improvement to revise. Tuesday we will share and explain our focus is continuous school improvement.
Diversity Walkthough/Quality Learning Environment
The following should be observed in your classrooms and lessons
1. Student work should be current, relevant and posted in and out of your classroom. Celebrate their success.
2. There should be examples of diversity in your classroom and lessons. This should also be relevant in your instruction. ( text, motivation, videos)
3. Connection to the real word.
Data From Walkthrough
21 / 21 classrooms visited had evidence of diversity in some way
13/ 21 classrooms visited had Second Step posters hanging in the classroom
0/21 classrooms visited had evidence of special needs students
