NEED TO CHECK YOUR STUDENT OUT EARLY?
Please follow this process in order to sign your child out early.
Calling before you arrive or filling out the QR code at home prior to arriving is NOT an option.
1, Enter the building into the foyer area.
2. Provide your current driver's license.
3. Use device or Ipad to access sign out form using the provided QR code.
After parent information is verified in our registration system, your student will be called from class.
CUT OFF TIME FOR PICKING UP YOUR STUDEN TIS 3:30 PM.
Cell Phones, Smart/Apple Watches, Air Pods
*Smart/Apple watches can be used to check the time ONLY. Students are not aloud to play music, text, call, or use any other features during the school day. It is imperative that we exercise all precautions to avoid any academic dishonesty along phone usage without teacher permission for instructional use. These will be picked up if used for any other reason than telling time.
*Air Pods must remain in the students backpack during the school day. They cause a heavy distraction in the learning environment. A large number of students are wearing these under hoods (which are not allowed to be on during the school day) and under the gator style mask. These will be picked up if the student has them out during the day.
Thank you for your support regarding these concerns.
GATORS/MASKS
Gators are allowed for students to use as a face covering as long as they are being worn correctly. A large majority of students wearing gators seem to have a hard time keeping them from falling down exposing their nose and mouth frequently. Students will be warned once about covering their mouth and nose. If it continues to be an issue, the gator will be collected and the student will be given a mask that fits them appropriately covering their nose and mouth without falling. Collected gators can be retrieved by the student from the staff member who picked it up.
ATTENDANCE
ATTENTION PARENTS:
*Students who are absent but are NOT quarantined by a district official are counted "absent." They are welcome to participate using the virtual platform if they feel well enough, however, they are counted "absent." A parent note must be sent with the student when they return to school. A note from a physician is required if your child is out for 3 or more days. Otherwise, the absence is unexcused.*Students who are quarantined but do NOT return on their schedule return date are counted "absent" unless extenuating circumstance are communicated to the school nurse that warrant the child to stay home. A parent/physicians note is required, otherwise the absence is unexcused.
*Students quarantined by a district official are to follow their daily schedule as if they are at school using the virtual platform. Attendance for each class period is "remote asynchronous" if the child engages/participates online.
*Students who are quarantined and do NOT engage/participate in class using the virtual platform are counted absent. Parent/physician notes are required in order to excuse an absence.
Students are required to attend school at least 90% of the school calendar year. Excessive absences (18 or more) could lead to retention.
STAAR TESTING WILL BE ONLINE!!
This is to proactively prepare our students for this shift that is taking place in the state in 2023. Online testing supports students efficiently. Designated supports, which include text-to-speech and content and language supports, cannot be replicated with paper tests in a standardized way. These built-in components provide individualized supports based on student needs while requiring less test administrator involvement.
Fortunately, with adding the virtual platform this year, our students are comfortable with online instruction, work, and testing. They will have opportunities to practice this style of assessment with our upcoming Benchmark assessments.
A student with a disability that prevents him or her from interacting with an online assessment will continue to be provided with a paper-based test.
Please view more information on the included flyer.
