4-H & Youth Development - Jacie Milius, Extension Educator & Jane Esau, 4-H Assistant
Raise Your Hand
Only one in three young people say they have the skills to handle what life throws their way. If we don’t give our kids the opportunity to succeed, we all fail.
That’s where 4-H comes in. 4-H programs meet youth and families where they live, serve community needs and build critical life skills kids need to thrive.
As a result, 4-H created the “Raise Your Hand” initiative - a nationwide call-to-action for 4-H alumni, supporters, and friends to vote for their state to win funding to help more kids in their communities benefit from 4-H hands-on learning programs.
The three states with the most hands raised will receive $20,000, $10,000 and
$5,000 to bring local 4-H programs to more kids.
Please join us and Raise Your Hand, because every child deserves a chance to succeed.

What you say matters: Positive motivation for young eaters
What you say really does matter when it comes to the eating behaviors of young children.
For better or worse, eating behaviors formed during childhood often follow a person into adulthood, where they play a key role in one’s ability to maintain a healthy relationship with food for a lifetime.
Most People Already Get Enough Protein
Are you getting enough protein? The quick answer is it depends, but probably.
For most healthy adults, the typical American eating pattern meets their daily protein needs. And it does this in the best way possible—through whole foods that naturally contain protein, rather than bars, shakes, pills and powders.
Protein is an essential part of life, and in your body, it goes well beyond building strong muscles.
