You can find a link to the Bias Incident Reporting Form here. Moving forward, there will be a link to the form at the bottom of this Student Memo each week. Soon there will be QR codes posted in the building with a link to it as well.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Ms. Theis.
Hopkinton Center for the Arts
From the HCA Newsletter:
On September 9th, the Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA) welcomed a large gathering of artists and enthusiasts for a reception honoring student artists who were chosen to be part of the "Bold and Beautiful" exhibition. Artist and curator Jamaal Eversley was honored to receive grants in 2022 from Hopkinton, Ashland, Hopedale and Milford local cultural councils to work with high school teens and their art teachers in order to create artwork that represents them and their neighborhood.
Along with their artwork, the students were encouraged to provide an essay to accompany their piece. Mixed in with pieces from adult Bold and Beautiful artists, the exhibition is a knock-out!
Juror Natiana Alexandra Fonseca selected one student from each of the four towns to receive a scholarship, funded by Eversley from the sale of his artwork. Fonseca also selected a student to receive a scholarship funded by the HCA for the "best in show" award.
The exhibition is on display at the HCA Lotvin Family Gallery through September 29th.
Congratulations to the following HHS students who were recognized for their work:
Owen Fitzpatrick
Hopkinton scholarship winner
"The Chance to Grow Old"
Juror comment:
The gentle execution of a portrait of what he imagines his mother might look like decades into the future speaks to her cancer diagnosis. The portrait has a dream-like quality to it to allow room for possible futures and constant shifting and changes as his family supports his mother and one another through this difficult time. Fitzpatrick eloquently relays his emotions and hopes for his mother beautifully with this piece.
Izael Thomas
Best in Show Scholarship Winner
"Unapologetically Me".
Juror Comment
"This work of art begs you to linger and spend time with it. What it means to be vulnerable, to go through the process of truly spending time with oneself and finding something beautiful in it.
In the time of the digital age, especially with adolescents, it can be a treacherous journey to find oneself in a positive light.

- Madelyn Godfroy

College Visits
The following schools will be offering visits this upcoming week. This is a great opportunity for you to meet with a college rep (usually the one who reads your application) and ask any questions and collect valuable information about the schools you are interested in. Some schools actually track your interest in their institution and this would count towards that.
To sign up for a visit, log into your Naviance Student Account, and look under colleges, visits or under What's New. The visits are held virtually at 4pm and 7pm on Monday through Thursdays. You will be sent a link to join the Zoom meeting shortly before the meeting time.
For a list of all colleges signed up to date, check out the list in Naviance. Colleges are being added daily so keep checking throughout the year!

Soles4Souls
SHOE DRIVE FOR UKRAINIAN REFUGEES!
HHS Sophomore Evan Fitzpatrick is a Global Ambassador for Soles4Souls, one of the top-rated non-profits in the country. Soles4Souls is focused on making a measurable impact in our world providing shoes and textiles directly to those in need. In addition to their work in developing nations and with homelessness in our country, Soles4Souls is actively providing disaster relief to Ukrainian refugees. The Hopkinton Administration and Hopkinton Principals are proud to support Evan in this endeavor.
Right now, Soles4Souls is accepting new or gently used shoe donations of any kind, and any size. Shoes should be bound together with a rubber band, but they also accept mis-matched or single shoes to give to amputees. (There are many.) Shoes may have small blemishes that will be professionally mended.
A collection box is available in the HHS Atrium and at every Hopkinton School. Last Spring, Hopkinton donated over 700 pair. Let's see if we can do it again.
