Moving Our Bus...On the Road to Excellence

September Edition

You've Been Patient...Your Wait is Over!

During the September 1st PLC meetings Ms. Simmons distributed copies of a calendar of events for the school year. The Instructional Leadership Team worked diligently to create a calendar that was inclusive so that staff and parents could plan in advance. Parents will be given these dates in the near future.

Please let me know if you are aware of dates that have been left off of the list.

Building Partnerships

ALL LDS TEACHING STAFF (Classroom Teachers, Specialist, Reading Specialists, EC, ESL)

Before leaving school on Friday, September 11th please make two positive phone calls to parents/guardians of your students. This will be a wonderful opportunity to personally invite the parent to Curriculum Night on September 15th.

Complete the Positive Phone Call Recording sheet that has been placed by writing the names of the students and parent you spoke with to Mrs. Sanders' mailbox and you will be entered into a drawing.

Participation is not optional.

LDS Curriculum Night

Tuesday, Sep. 15th, 5-7pm

5:00-5:30 pm: Parents will be invited to join us for dinner, Community Groups will be present to share information

6:00-7:00 pm: Brief PTA Meeting, Sessions (Title I, curriculum, PBIS, and Make & Take Session)

The class with the most parents in attendance will receive a reward. In the event of a tie a drawing will be held.

Instructional Leadership Team Walkthroughs

This week we have begun classroom walkthroughs with a focus on procedures and classroom environment. More importantly, the Instructional Leadership Team is using this week as an opportunity to ensure that we are all "on the same page" with what we are looking for, therefore you will see us walking in pairs and possibly as a trio.

Please know that we will provide you with feedback this week IF there is an issue or IF there is an area where we feel that immediate support is needed. You will receive specific feedback in a more timely manner once we begin walkthroughs with an instructional focus.

1st Instructional Excellence Inventory

Thursday, Sep. 24th, 12am

We are scheduled to have our first Instructional Excellence Inventory (IEI) on Thursday, September 24th. Please remember that IEIs are...

  • an opportunity to show others what we are doing on a daily (IT IS NOT A SHOW).
  • a chance to receive feedback on how we are progressing in attainment of our School Improvement Goals.
  • not reflected on any individual staff member's evaluation.
  • not a gotcha!

Prior to the IE on the 24th the Instructional Leadership Team will share the data dive presentation with the staff. Additional information will be shared with the staff as the date approaches.
