Wildlife ecology final
By Ethan Vesey
Intro
Restoration- Returning something to its former state
Reconstruction- Re building something and making it better than before
Which of these do park use more? why do they do this? These questions will be answered today
Which is better?
What questions we asked
-In your plan, do you hope to have humans come in and remove invasive species such as honeysuckle, and then let natural processes take over, or do you plan on letting the natural processes decide what’s going to be successful within that environment?
-Essentially, is it better to have human intervention, or no human intervention to protect and sustain biodiversity and why?
Keuhn conservation
The response
question 1: they responded with mainly letting it thrive, they said that by starting fires and other natural occurrences in nature will help kill off invasive species.
question 2: They said mainly it will be best if we actively try to remove these invasive species to help the rest of the forest return and thrive.
Question 3: They like to focus on combining human interaction and letting the land thrive and be on it's own. But they say it is sometimes best to use human interaction to help the land thrive and grow. Final answer they mainly said human interaction is used more.
Examples of human interaction
Controlled fires
Removing shrubs and other invasive species
Planting new species
Conclusion
- Using chemicals to help kill the species haring the environment for while we aren't there during the winter
- These species never really die
- We can control them
- Human interaction isn't better but is more useful
