Congratulations to the Reading Bowl Team

A huge congratulations to our AMMS Reading Bowl Team and their leader, Ms. Bongiorno, for placing FIRST in our county competition this past Saturday morning. Their next step is regionals!

This group of students has amazed and inspired us as they read, discussed, and developed questions for 10 books in the middle of a pandemic.

Congratulations again to our awesome team!

Save the Date.....February 16th is Picture Day

F2F students will have their pictures taken during their Social Studies classes.

Safety and social distancing measures will be put in place:

  • Students will stand 6 feet apart while waiting in line with their masks on. They will take their masks off for the picture.
  • There will be no camera cards for students to use; they will provide their student (lunch) number or name to the photographer.
  • All photographers will wear masks.
  • No props will be used.

Virtual students can come to the school during their Connection classes. They will be excused from these classes for pictures.

  • 6th grade virtual students – 2:20 p.m. – 3:50 p.m.
  • 7th grade virtual students – 9:00 a.m. – 11:08 a.m.
  • 8th grade virtual students – 11:13 a.m. – 1:05 p.m.

We will allow students from the same family to come together (for example, a 6th and 8th grade student from the same family). Students will enter the front door, get their picture taken in the front atrium, and then exit immediately. Parents will be required to wait in the parking lot for their students.

You should receive an email from Lifetouch about the online procedures for ordering the pictures. If you have any questions, please contact me at ericksona@fultonschools.org.

Have a wonderful day!

School Governance Council Candidates Needed

It is time for the election of new members to our School Governance Council. The School Governance Council has both parent/guardian and teacher positions open for election. Parents or guardians of students who will be attending our school during both the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 school years are eligible to run for the parent/guardian SGC positions.

Our School Governance Council (SGC) plays a critical role in the success of our school. The SGC works with school leadership and the community to help determine the long-term direction of the school, design innovative solutions to increase academic achievement, and serve as school ambassadors to the local community. Specifically, the School Governance Council has the following powers:

  • Create, approve, and monitor the implementation of the school strategic plan
  • Manage the Request for Flexibility process
  • Approve the annual budget recommendations and related allocations
  • Participate in the hiring of the principal, in the case of a vacancy
  • Provide annual feedback to the Area Superintendent on principal performance

If you are interested in running for a position on the School Governance Council, please complete and submit a Parent/Guardian Candidate Declaration Form.

We are very excited about the work and value-add of our SGC. We hope that you will consider running for a position! The Candidate Declaration period ends February 26th and voting in the SGC occurs from March 17 – 24, 2021. In the meantime, if you would like more information about the charter system or SGC elections visit our school’s website or our Charter System Overview.

Fulton County Technology Competition

Registration is now open through March 7th for the virtual Fulton County Technology Competition!

Overview of the Competition

  • This is a 100% virtual competition.
  • All 3rd -12th grade Fulton County students are invited to enter a student created Technology Project that aligns with one of these CATEGORIES.
  • Students may enter only ONE project. Projects may be submitted by an individual or up to two team members. Individuals and teams of two compete against each other.
  • Projects are to be designed and created by students. Some adult guidance is allowed, but it must be clear that work entered by students was done by the students. Judges will expect students to demonstrate that the work is their own. This should not be a whole class assigned project.

After that time, students’ projects will be judged based on the category for which they registered. Changes in category WILL NOT be made for any reason after submission. Yearbook Information

As you know, this year is different than any other school year we’ve experienced. So, our yearbook will be a bit different too! The yearbook staff would love for YOU to submit photos to be featured in this year’s book! There are two ways you can do this: it’s super easy-this can be done by both in person and virtual learners (option 1 or 2), and families/parents (option 2 only). Parents, please encourage your student to use option one as it will help with general yearbook content.
