Spring into Lincoln Street

May 2017

Exceptional things happen here

April was a busy month here at Lincoln Street! From a black out, to a visit abroad, there's never a dull moment at LSES. Here's a little peak of what we have all been up to and what you can look forward to in the month of May.

McTeacher Night

This year's McTeacher Night took place on April 5th. Lincoln Street raised $699.08, good job Lynx! Thank you to all those who attended and volunteered in order to make this night a success.

BOGO book fair

From April 10th through the 14th readers of all ages stopped by the LSES to check out the buy one, get one book fair in the library. Although the ultimate goal amount was not quite reached, plenty of items were purchased and knowledge was spread throughout LSES!

Visit from the superintendent

Mike Scott stopped by Lincoln Street on April 4th. He spent his time here visiting with students and teachers

Oregon Symphony Kinder Konzert & Metropolitan Youth Symphony Concert

Mr. Bosshardt has been working hard all year around to make sure that Lincoln Street students and families have access to beautiful music. On April 12 the final Kinderkonzert of the year took place for the Kinder through Second grade students. On April 24th, Fourth through Sixth grade students also had the pleasure of enjoying a symphony.

Welcome our new mascot!

At the spirit assembly last month, there was a big surprise - a Lynx! Our fabulous PTO purchased a Lynx mascot for the school. Although it's name and gender are yet to be determined, adults and students alike are extremely excited to welcome our new mascot.

Teacher & staff appreciation week

Teacher Appreciation Week, which is the first full week in May of each year, is the time to show appreciation to teachers and personnel alike. The National Education Association describes National Teacher Day “as a day for honoring teachers and recognizing the lasting contributions they make to our lives”. PTO has generously provided lunch for all staff on Wednesday, May 3, along with a sweet treat the following day. Thank you!

Kinder Orientation

On May 11th from 6 to 7:30 p.m. we will welcome our incoming kindergarten students at kinder orientation. Mrs. Maher, Mrs. Lemons, and Mrs. Lopez are working hard to prepare information, resources, and presentations for the incoming students. The first 50 kinder students who attend the orientation will receive a free backpack with school supplies -
