St. Michael Preschool News
Growing with God...
Dear St. Michael Preschool Families,
On Oct. 4th, the Church celebrated the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. This week, Deacon Brian Phillips visited our outdoor Church Morning to teach the children about this special saint and bless pictures of their pets and favorite animals. The children discussed how they can be like saints who are heroes in our church because they devoted themselves to helping people just like Jesus. The children sweetly suggested they can share, be kind, help a friend or family member, or even give the gift of a smile. Listening to Deacon Brian and our preschoolers, I was reminded of the words of St. Francis - “For it is in giving that we receive.” What a blessing that our preschool teachers and St. Michael clergy are devoted to the spiritual development of your children. They joyfully give of their time and talent and celebrate our Catholic faith so that your children may continue growing with God. Thank you for encouraging your child to share their learning experiences with you each day. May God bless and keep you always.
Fall blessings,
Lisa Ciesla
Preschool Director
St. Anthony, St. Anthony, please come around.
Something is lost and needs to be found. Amen.

Fall Festival
Halloween is a popular holiday among young children. Many have probably already decided what their costumes will be. We want to provide a safe and fun way for your child to enjoy this fun tradition. On October 27 & 28, the 3, 4, and 5-year-old children may wear a costume to school. Please guide your child to select a costume with nonviolent themes, and please do not send in accessories. Please have your child wear clothes underneath the costume or bring a change of clothes to school. Our two-year-olds will wear orange on October 27 and participate in “Fall Fun” with their class.
Tues., Oct. 27 - Pooh, Roo
Wed., Oct. 28 - Kanga, Rabbit, Clifford
To ensure we follow all health requirements, the children will remain in their "class bubbles" and parade around their classroom or during music with Miss Karen. Your child's class parade and activities will be recorded and shared with you so you can enjoy it together from home.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
LET'S WORK TOGETHER TO KEEP OUR COMMUNITY HEALTHY!
If a child develops ANY of the COVID-19 exclusionary symptoms (fever of 100.4 or higher, chills, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, new cough, or new loss of taste or smell), families have three options:
- stay home for 10 days from when symptoms first began, or
- get a negative COVID test, or
- get a note of alternate diagnosis from the pediatrician
If a child is sick with any NON-COVID symptoms, like a fever under 100.4, stuffy or runny nose, sore throat, vomiting, or diarrhea, our normal illness policy applies (24 hours free of diarrhea, vomiting, and fever without fever-reducing medication before returning to school). Your child must feel well before returning to school.
Snack Allergy Policy
- Children will bring their own snack to school. We ask that it be just one or two items that can be easily enjoyed by your child.
- Snacks may NOT contain peanuts/nuts or peanut/nut products. This includes foods that have been produced/processed in a plant with nut products.
- Avoid potential choking hazards - all grapes, cherries, and mini tomatoes need to be cut in half. Popcorn and hard candy are not permitted.
PARENT RESOURCES
Second Step Social-Emotional Skills Curriculum
Our St. Michael Preschool teachers strive to create a safe and loving environment where children treat themselves and others with respect and show care and concern for others all while growing in their love of Jesus. We recognize that supporting children’s social-emotional development helps them grow as learners, build relationships, and feel happier and more successful in the classroom and in their daily lives.
The Second Step weekly lessons are designed to teach preschoolers how to harness their energy and potential to achieve improved learning and behavior. The program teaches children to listen, pay attention, control their behavior, and get along with others. Students entering kindergarten with these self-regulation and social-emotional skills are set up for success.
Below please click on the Home Links that correspond with your child’s preschool program. Home Link letters and activities are a valuable component in building a strong home-school connection. They coordinate with the weekly lessons and concepts being taught to your children so you can reinforce them at home. We thank you in advance for partnering with us to ensure the success of your child’s early childhood education.
