Kindergarten Registration

The District 303 Kindergarten enrollment process for the 2021-2022 school year will be virtual! Between January 19 and March 12, families will be able to enroll their kindergarten-age children by visiting the Kindergarten Registration & Information page of the District 303 website. On the District 303 website you will find:

  • The New Student Intake Form (coming January 19, 2021)

  • The Kindergarten Step-by-Step Guide for registration

  • Health and Dental exams and immunization information

  • Contact information for all elementary schools

  • Information about Full Day and Half Day Kindergarten

Please direct any friends or neighbors with incoming kindergarteners to the D303 website to get all necessary information.

No School Monday

Just a reminder that we do not have school on Monday, as it is Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day planning is already in the works! We will be having Valentine's celebrations for both in-person and remote learners.

  • Valentines Day will be celebrated on Friday, February 12th.
  • Classroom teachers will let you know details regarding the plans for their class.
  • Students are permitted to bring in valentines to pass out to classmates.
  • For in-person learners, all valentines and party supplies need to be at Ferson no later than Tuesday, February 9th. Remote families should wait for directions from their child's teacher as there may be other plans for distribution of supplies/valentines.
  • Valentines that include store-bought candy or treats are allowed, but nothing will be eaten at school. All items will be brought home.

Arrival & Dismissal Reminders

Thank you for working to provide the safest arrival and dismissal for our students. As we are getting back into the swing of things, I thought I'd share a few reminders:

  • Please do not get out of your vehicle during arrival and dismissal
  • Parking/Stopping along Bolcum and Burr roads is not permitted.
  • Remember that dismissal is a pick-up window. Too many cars are arriving right at 1:40, causing back-up at the four way stop.

Thank you for your patience as we arrive and leave school safely.

SEL ECRA Survey

This year, elementary students in grades 2-5 are utilizing a universal screening tool to assess their academic, social, and emotional learning skills. This ECRA screener is the same screening tool that students took at the beginning of the year. For more information, please see the letter from our Assessment Department here. Our window for administering this screener is January 18th - January 29th. The screener will be completed during the school day.

D303 Community Preschool

The District 303 Community Preschool Program will be conducting its annual registration lottery. Enrollment will be offered online from January 19 to February 2, 2021. Free TCRWP Parent & Caregiver Workshop

Thursday, January 28, 1-3 PM Eastern Time

Join expert Teachers College Reading and Writing Project staff at our upcoming workshop day for parents and caregivers of students in grades K-8. Learn more about ways to support your child’s literacy education at home, what or how they are learning in school, how to best engage in home literacy projects, and more. Our Reading and Writing resource that we use in D303, Units of Study, was created by Lucy Calkins and TCRWP.

These days are typically 2-3 hours long, composed of a series of 15-minute small-group presentations. Parents and caregivers can choose the workshops that match their needs and are free to come for one workshop or many. The schedule of workshops will be made available prior to the event. These sessions are offered live and are not recorded for later viewing.

More Resources for Families & Caregivers

Middle School Transfer Requests

REQUEST PERIOD OPEN FROM FEB. 1 - FEB. 26

Families who wish to submit a Middle School Transfer request may do so beginning February 1, 2021. Families must complete a separate form for each student they want to be transferred. Requests are granted based on space available. This means that siblings are not guaranteed placement. A written decision will be communicated to families before spring break.

Once the request is approved, a student may remain at that middle school throughout his or her middle school career, as long as the student resides in District 303.

Families of students granted permission to attend a school outside of their assigned attendance area are responsible for their own transportation.

Students will return to their assigned attendance area high school regardless of the middle school attended.

The Middle School Transfer request window will close at 4:00pm on February 26, 2021.

If you have questions, please contact Tammy Marsan at: 331-228-2397.

D303 Has Job Openings!

It takes more adults to operate schools safely for students during the pandemic. District 303 currently has numerous job openings in a variety of job categories. If you are looking for temporary, part-time, or full-time employment, please visit the D303 Human Resources page to apply for a position.

One of the more flexible positions available is that of a D303 Substitute. You can choose to work, or not work, as your schedule permits. We are really in need of substitutes!

D303 has a Substitute Teacher's Handbook to show you the ins and outs of the job.

If after reading this, you are interested, please, reach out to Julie.Wenger@D303.org. Julie is our substitute coordinator. If you hold a Bachelor's degree, she can walk you through the process of applying for a substitute license with the state. This license affords you the opportunity to sub for teachers and teacher's assistants. If you hold a high school diploma or Associate's degree, you can apply for a Paraprofessional License. This license affords you the opportunity to sub for teacher's assistants.

After you get your license, you can apply to substitute teach in D303.
