An Existential Moment
We do this partly for ourselves, of course. We are looking out for our own jobs. But mostly we do it for our communities. We think that we are valuable. We think that we are needed. We think that what we provide: books, computers, art classes, speakers, preK programs, meeting spaces etc. etc. makes a positive difference in our communities. We think that libraries transform.
As a subscriber to a library newsletter, I imagine that you think so too. That being the case, I'd like to ask you to take a few moments to look over our Legislative Agenda and consider adding libraries to the topics you communicate about with local legislators. We are fortunate to have had good support in the past from all of those who represent the people we serve, so it's an opportunity to thank them and ask them to keep on doing what they're doing. Kind of a relief these days, really.

Strategic Plan - Who we are and what we're doing about it
We've started by updating our Mission Statement and, over the next several months, will be working on a set of goals and activities based on it. Please take a moment to click the link and look it over.
As the process continues, we'll be asking for input from staff, volunteers and the public. In order to serve the community, it makes sense to know what the community thinks, right? Please participate in this process. You have a unique and valuable point of view.

Timely Talk
The Plant Sale Needs You
This year, the Library Gardeners have said they'd like to take on an advisory, rather than an active role in the popular and successful fundraiser, traditionally held on the Saturday before Mother's Day. We'll need help with organizing and getting the word out for donations. We'll need help on the day; schlepping, pricing, selling and cleaning up.
Also Andrea Grom, who grows and donates the best veggies and herbs ever, is looking for a greenhouse helper on a couple of Saturdays in mid April for a couple of hours at a time. This is a great opportunity to learn from the best while enjoying a little tropical warmth.
