From Sticks and Stones
This amazing piece of art was built almost 400 years ago. It was the name of a woman, Arjumand Banu Begum. Her name was changed to Mumtaz Mahal. This majestic building was built by her husband, Shah Jahan. He built it in her honor after she died. It is a mausoleum, a burial place for his wife. It took about 22 years (1632-1654) and over 20,000 workers to construct. In my opinion, it truly deserves the title, "Eighth Wonder of the World."
Where is this Extraordinary Building Located?
The Taj Mahal stands on the southern bank of the Yamuna River in Agra, India. Right behind it is the Jamuna River. A cool fact is that the Taj Mahal changes color depending on the sunlight or moonlight.
The Master Architect
The master architect was Ustad 'Isa. It stands on a marble base and covered in white makrana. There are many beautiful gardens all around the Taj Mahal. It has a square of 186 feet and a height of 108 feet. It is a huge building and probaly one of the most beautiful buildings on Earth.
So you are on your way back from India. You had a blast getting to see so many beautiful things on your journey. If you were to be asked what was the most amazing thing you got to see, what would you say? I know what I would say. " The Taj Mahal: The Greatest Wonder of the World!"
